KEVIN RYAN, who is aiming to make a flying start to the new turf season, which kicks off at Doncaster on Saturday, can put himself in the winning vein at Wolverhampton tomorrow evening by completing a treble.

The Hambleton trainer is set to be strongly represented at Doncaster’s opening meeting, not least by Advanced in the Lincoln Handicap and the speedy Redford in the Cammidge Trophy.

Tomorrow, he has smaller fish to fry, but he has good prospects of hitting the target with nap selection Le Toreador, Princess Mandy and Blue Moon.

The latter has her second career start in the Cleanwastesolutions Maiden Stakes after showing definite signs of promise on her debut at Southwell, where she stayed on nicely to finish third after taking a while for the penny to drop. She should be wiser this time.

Le Toreador, owned, like Blue Moon, by Guy Reed, should take plenty of catching in the Betfair All Weather Forum Competition Handicap over five furlongs.

Neil Callan’s mount made a winning start to the season at Lingfield a month ago. Raised 4lb for that success, he can oblige again.

Princess Mandy has yet to lose her maiden tag, but the three-year-old has shown consistent signs of ability, including on her seasonal reappearance at Southwell, where she finished third.

She should go well for Ryan in the Cleanevent Handicap.

Prince Picasso is an interesting horse in the CE Risk, Safety & Security Handicap.

It might have gone largely unnoticed but Richard Fahey’s gelding was at Cheltenham Festival last week – triumphant, by a head, in the lady riders’ charity Flat race, which raised more than £120,000 for Cancer Relief UK.

While the level of that form is nigh on impossible to quantify, Prince Picasso did, at least, prove himself to be in good heart. He has Paul Hanagan on him this time in a bid to win a ‘proper’ race.

At Lingfield, Silver Linnet may be the one to be on in the Big Gerry Hegarty Memorial Handicap over the minimum trip of five furlongs.

The mount of Jerry O’Dwyer, Mick Quinlan’s three-year-old finished a creditable third to Liberty Lad at Southwell on her latest start. She may not need to improve much on that effort to come out on top this time.

Beat The Bell makes plenty of appeal in the Lingfield Park Owners’ Club Handicap.

The Jamie Osborne-trained gelding was beaten only a length into third place by Lucky Redback on this course at the beginning of the month, which was his first run of the year.

He is entitled to have benefited from that outing and, if so, he should make a bold attempt in this six furlongs dash.

The promising Starlight Muse (2.05) and the unbeaten Island Sunset (5.00) are two others to consider.
