Hawk Mountain, who made a winning start to the season at Doncaster last month, can make it two from two at Haydock tomorrow.

Trained at Norton by John Quinn, the four-year-old is owned by Racing Broadcaster of the Year Nick Luck, who works for Channel 4 and Racing UK, and Paul Morrison, who lives near Scotch Corner and who is one of RUK’s northern pundits.

Hawk Mountain, who, after being slow to mature, began to develop in handicap company last season, looks much more the finished article this year.

There was plenty to like about his winning reappearance at Doncaster where he got the better of the more experienced Red Wine, who franked that form when winning on the same course last Saturday.

The handicapper has raised Hawk Mountain 4lb for his latest success, which looks very fair. He looks sure to make a bold bid in the GameOnBingo.com Handicap.

Cadre bids to defy a penalty in the Play Premier 10 At footballpools.com Handicap.

John Gosden’s classy-looking four-year-old has been very lightly raced, but he is plainly very talented. A fluent winner from the useful Tartan Gigha at Yarmouth last time out, Cadre has what it takes to defy this 6lb higher mark. Richard Mullen has the mount.

The promising Eastern Warrior (4.10) and the versatile Fujin Dancer (5.20), a good fourth at Beverley last time after a successful hurdling campaign, are two others to note at the Lancashire course.

At Goodwood, the feature race on the card is the £40,000 Height Of Fashion Stakes, a Listed race for fillies over ten furlongs.

This race represents a step up in class for Multiplication, but she impressed greatly when winning her maiden by seven lengths at Warwick a couple of weeks ago. It would be no surprise to see Roger Charlton’s three-year-old raise her game to secure this important prize.

Bin End should impress in the M-Real Handicap.

Trained at Newmarket by Michael Bell, the three-year-old, a winner at Leicester on his reappearance, was beaten only a length into fourth place by Barwell Bridge in a hot handicap at York last week.

It looks significant that Bell is bringing him out again quickly. With Jamie Spencer in the saddle, he should be hard to beat.

Crimson Fern has strong claims in the £18,000 TurfTV Handicap over five furlongs.

A much-improved performer last season, Malcolm Saunders’ mare failed by only a head to beat the high-class Look Busy at Bath last time. She would hardly need to improve much on that form to go one better and is napped to come out on top.
