FORMER England striker turned successful racehorse trainer Mick Channon will be able to take in both the racing and the international football at York Racecourse tomorrow.

Channon, who runs Obe Brave in the feature race paddypower.com Sprint Trophy, will benefit from a dedicated big screen showing the Three Lions' crucial Euro 2008 clash with Estonia. The race, over six furlongs and worth £35,000, is scheduled for 3.45pm - half-time at Wembley.

The omens are positive on two fronts for Channon - the man who scored 21 international goals during his 46 caps has scored in this race before, winning it with Najeebon in 2003.

On the football field, England have a good record on York racedays, winning seven out of their 11 matches since 1996, with three draws and just the lone defeat.

William Derby, York chief executive, said: "It is a big day for those who love their sport. We wanted to offer live racing action without making football fans miss out."
