TRAINER David O'Meara could have another diamond on his hands in the shape of Bravery - the winner of Saturday's Betway Lincoln.

Bravery is the half brother of Mondialiste who won the prestigious Arlington Million for O'Meara eight months ago.

He had finished fourth in the Irish 2000 Guineas (for previous trainer Aidan O'Brien) but was sold in October for just 44,000 Guineas and switched to O'Meara's yard at Upper Helmsley.

A shock 20-1 winner of the first big handicap of the Flat racing season, Bravery will now be one to watch over the coming months.

"We always target horses for the Lincoln and have been placed it in three our four times in the past," said O'Meara. "Mondialiste came very close to winning it (2015) and turned out to be a good horse after that - but only time will tell if Bravery can be as good."

O'Meara says it is too early to commit to future targets but will discuss options this week with the horse's owners at Sprint Thoroughbred Racing.

"We would like to think we can go back up into Pattern company but if we did take in another handicap or too before he stepped up to a listed or conditions race, there is brilliant prize money," he said.

Bravery's victory, under the stewardship of Danny Tudhope, was worth £62,500 in prize money and delivered an early season boost to O'Meara's yard.

"We like to hit the ground running," he admitted. "Sometimes you think you have got your string ready and they are all finishing halfway or out the back so it's nice when the first one or two run well and win. It tells you that you have probably done the right thing through the winter."
