REDCAR has the distinction of staging the first Flat turf meeting of the year and Treasury Notes can take a starring role in the feature Pinnacle Racing Syndicate Shares Now Available Handicap.

It is something of a false start for the Flat season 'proper', with no other meeting on turf until Doncaster on Saturday, but David O'Meara's charge can make full use of his early opportunity.

The four-year-old did not join O'Meara until the latter part of 2015 but the handler soon worked the oracle and Treasury Notes notched a first win on his second start for new connections at Hamilton in September.

He could not follow up on his final start at Pontefract in October but his third place over 10 furlongs was probably a bit better than it sounds as the trip appeared to really test his stamina.

Switching back to a mile, Treasury Notes should be more at home and off a rating of 77, he looks as though he still has plenty left in the locker.

Racing Angel is another who can get 2016 off to a flying start in the Market Cross Jewellers Fillies' Handicap.

Twice a winner last year, she has not been seen since finishing second at Leicester last August but remains usefully rated off 63.

Bucking The Trend impressed with a 20-length verdict at Market Rasen earlier this month and can follow up in the David Keith Memorial Handicap Chase at Fakenham.

Tim Vaughan's runner made every yard that day to notch his first victory in well over two years and should be followed while in such good heart.

Grey Gold looks the one in the Bathwick Tyres Handicap Chase at Chepstow, with Indian Stream taken to shine in the St Ives Toyota Handicap Chase at Huntingdon.

Shinooki can bring up a hat-trick in the Sue Is 60 Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen, while Sportsreport could be the solution to the Bet totetrifecta Handicap Chase at Plumpton.

The BoyleSports Irish Grand National Chase is the feature event of the day at Fairyhouse and Noel Meade's Bonny Kate looks a likely victor.

She is on a four-timer having landed a beginners' chase at Fairyhouse in November before going on to win a Grand National Trial and a Grade Two mares' event in the interim.

Bonny Kate's biggest asset is her jumping and given she is already a winner over three and a half miles, her stamina is pretty well assured, too.

This is undoubtedly her toughest task to date but given this is just her seventh chase start at the age of six, there could be any amount of improvement still to come.

Gwencily Berbas found Arctic Fire too good in the Hatton's Grace back in November but the Keelings Irish Strawberry Hurdle should be a more suitable task. Still only a five-year-old, he found two and a half miles in Grade One company beyond him, but this slight dip to Grade Two level should help him get back on track.
