NORTH YORKSHIRE jumps fans will have eyes only for Catterick today, but it's Lingfield's all-weather Flat fixture that will occupy the attentions of Malton trainer Richard Fahey and his jockey Tony Hamilton.

Fahey requires only two more winners to equal Richard Hannon snr's all-time record of 235 successes in a calendar year, while Hamilton is a mere one winner shy of his maiden century. The pair have several chances at Lingfield, not least with nap selection GABRIAL THE HERO in the 32RedSport.com Handicap.

A recent winner at Southwell, which came on the back of a couple of creditable efforts at Wolverhampton, Gabrial The Hero has since been raised 5lb by the handicapper.

That rise sets him a stiffer test in this two-miler, plus he's stepping up in trip. He is, though, a relatively fresh horse having been lightly raced this year. He is fancied to make a bold bid.

It was a pretty poor race that SCARLET BOUNTY won at Southwell on her latest outing, but she won it with something to spare.

The three-year-old now tackles the Bet Now With The Ladbrokes App Handicap over the same distance of seven furlongs. She is not to be underestimated for Fahey and Hamilton.

HOME CUMMINS provides the Musley Bank partnership with another opportunity in the featured £19,000 Ladbrokes Handicap.

The Helen Steel-owned filly returned to winning form at Wolverhampton on her penultimate outing and kept on well into fifth place at Chelmsford on her latest start. This is a tough race, but she is not without claims.

Luis Vaz de Torres is another Fahey-Hamilton representative in the Daily Price Boosts At Unibet Handicap, but the three-year-old may have to raise his recent game to beat RENOUNCE, a course-and-distance winner in maiden company last month.

Trained by Jeremy Noseda, Renounce was making his first appearance since March, and only the second of his career, that day. He has an opening mark of 77 for his first handicap assignment, which does not look too harsh for a horse with his potential. He should go well under Robert Havlin.

Malton rider Jamie Hamilton has good prospects of figuring among the winners at Catterick. He partners TURTLE CASK in the Go Racing In Yorkshire Winter Festival Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle over an extended three miles.

The six-year-old, trained by Dianne Sayer, won by a wide margin over this course and distance a fortnight ago. There may be more to come from him off an 8lb higher mark.

Norton trainer Malcolm Jefferson has leading claims with NAUTICAL TWILIGHT in the Come Racing Again New Year's Day Handicap Chase.

Brian Hughes' mount won by two lengths at Newcastle last time out and, off a 4lb higher mark, ought to be competitive again.

John Quinn is another Norton trainer with every chance of putting his name on the scoreboard.

He saddles PARK PLACE in the second division of the Watch On 3 Devices racinguk.com/anywhere Maiden Hurdle.

The five-year-old produced a pretty respectable display on his comeback to hurdling at Doncaster earlier in the month when finishing fourth. Given a small amount of improvement, Park Place should be firmly in the mix here.

The £11,000 Raydale Preserves Handicap Chase is the feature race at Catterick and URBAN GALE is fancied to go well for Yorkshire trainer Jo Foster.

A Southwell winner on his penultimate start, the ten-year-old has since finished a gallant third at Sedgefield where the step up to almost three miles and three furlongs may have stretched his stamina. He should be more at home over this slightly less challenging staying test.

Also worth noting are Jonjo O'Neill's CHAMPAGNE AT TARA (1.35), who may well have won at Chepstow last time but for blundering at the final hurdle, and Lucy Egerton's BOLLIN LINE (1.00), who has had to settle for runner-up honours on his latest two visits to this course. Fingers are crossed that Danny Cook's mount can make it third-time-lucky.
