NORTH Yorkshire trainer Nigel Tinkler has secured the services of Frankie Dettori for a horse he is sending on the long journey to Windsor this afternoon.

ETIENNE GERARD, who has been in excellent form lately, heads south in a bid to gain his third win from his last five starts.

The gelding got off the mark under apprentice Kieran Schofield at Ripon in July, won again at Leicester under Andrew Mullen and, following a recent narrow defeat at Hamilton with Schofield again in the saddle, now has Dettori on board for the Unibet Offer Daily Jockey/Trainer Specials Handicap.

Etienne Gerard is a progressive sprinter. He is napped to clinch this sprint prize for Tinkler and contribute to what promises to be a productive afternoon for Dettori.

The popular jockey, who is set to be aboard his Derby hero Golden Horn, sensationally defeated in the Juddmonte International at York's Ebor Festival, in the Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown this weekend, provided the rain stays away, has good prospects of a Windsor four-timer.

Dettori is fancied to kick-off with a winner on HEROIC HEART in the first division of the Awesome Biscuits Maiden Fillies' Stakes. John Gosden's juvenile has shown enough in her four starts to suggest she can win a race of this nature.

Dettori and Gosden can also team-up to win the Taylor Osborne Nursery Handicap with CARTARGO.

Although still a maiden, the two-year-old may not need to improve on his overall form, especially his runner-up effort behind Chief Whip at Sandown on his penultimate start, to clinch this event over an extended mile.

FOUR ON EIGHT, who belied his 66-1 odds when finishing third at Newmarket on his latest start, can be another winner for Dettori in the Chandler And Co Median Auction Maiden Stakes. Luca Cumani's youngster is now up to an extended mile for the first time, which should suit him.

At Perth's jumping meeting, a note should be made of OFFICER SYDNEY in the Isle of Skye 8yo Scotch Blended Whisky Juvenile Hurdle.

Trained by Gordon Elliott, who has a tremendous record with the horses he brings to this Scottish course from his Irish base, Officer Sydney made a winning debut over hurdles at Roscommon three weeks ago. This former Brian Meehan Flat horse looks set to follow-up.

Elliott can also score with ROSIE REVENUE (4.40), who is nothing if not consistent and who, like Officer Sydney, will be partnered by Richard Johnson, who is blazing a red-hot trail in the jump jockeys' championship.

STROBE (2.10), a Bangor winner last month, has every chance of following-up in Perth's opening handicap chase over two and a half miles. Lucy Normile's gelding is a previous winner over this course and distance.

Also worthy of attention are BENANCHIE (2.40), who makes the long journey from Tim Vaughan's South Wales establishment and ROBIN'S COMMAND (3.10), who shaped well to finish third on this course a couple of weeks ago after a summer break.

* The funeral of former Malton jockey Lindsay Charnock takes place today at 11am at York Crematorium. Charnock, who died aged 60, was a leading lightweight jockey, who rode some 800 winners in his 29-year career and whose only Group-race success came at York on the Tim Easterby-trained Jemima in the 1999 Lowther Stakes
