JAMES REVELEY, who took the honours at Catterick yesterday when winning the North Yorkshire Grand National with a pillar-to-post victory on Scotswell, can remain in the spotlight at Doncaster today.

Reveley teams up with his trainer-father Keith and has good prospects of recording a double with Balmusette and Whichwaytobougie.

Balmusette carries the nap in the Betdaq Mares’ Handicap Hurdle.

A good winner at Catterick two starts ago, the six-year-old was thrown into the deep end in Listed company at Haydock last time out and, on heavy ground, which may have been more testing than ideal for her, she ran a good race to finish fourth.

This handicap will take much less winning and looks an ideal opportunity for Balmusette to return to the glory trail.

Whichwaytobougie runs in the Betdaq No Premium Charge Handicap and is expected to relish the step up to three miles.

The six-year-old has run respectable races on his last two outings at Newcastle, finishing third on both occasions. He can step up this time over a stiffer test of his stamina.

The feature race at Doncaster is the Betdaq No Premium Charge Mares’ Chase, a Listed event over two and a half miles.

Pepite Rose has yet to trouble the judge in her last two outings, but those races were Grade 1 and Grade 2 affairs.

She will be much more at home in this company and would only need to reproduce the sort of form she showed when chasing home the top-class Sire de Grugy in Grade 1 company at Sandown in the spring to lift this £30,000 event. Aidan Coleman has the mount.

Paul Nicholls and Sam Twiston-Davies can make a bright start to the Town Moor programme by winning the opening Betdaq Maiden Hurdle with Rainy City.

The five-year-old ran out a wide-margin winner of a bumper on this course on his latest start six weeks ago. He looks the type to make a successful transition to hurdling and a bold bid is expected.

Nicky Henderson can complete a double on the card with Josses Hill and Nicolas Chauvin.

Josses Hill makes his second appearance over fences in the Betdaq Novices’ Chase after chasing home the hugely exciting Ptit Zig on his debut.

A Grade 2 winner last season over hurdles when he reached a handicap rating of 150, Josses Hill is a smart horse in his own right. He should take plenty of beating this afternoon.

Henderson and jockey Barry Geraghty can also win the Cash Out On The Betdaq+ App Novices’ Hurdle with Nicolas Chauvin.

Successful in a bumper at Newton Abbot, the gelding was not hard pressed to follow up in his first hurdle at Fakenham on his latest start. This will be a tougher test for him, against the likes of Glingerburn and Some Buck, but Nicolas Chauvin promises to be a tough nut to crack.

At Huntingdon, Its A Sting makes plenty of appeal in the EBF Stallions ‘National Hunt’ Maiden Hurdle (Qualifier).

The Oliver Sherwood-trained six-year-old, winner of one of his three bumpers, looks likely to do well over hurdles judged on his latest creditable display to finish second at Ascot. Leighton Aspell has the mount.

Also worth noting are Vaillant Creek (12.45), a respectable runner-up at Market Rasen last month, and the promising Hel Tara (2.30), another Nicky Henderson representative.

Doncaster today: 12.30 Rainy City, 1.00 Josses Hill, 1.35 Nicolas Chauvin, 2.05 Pepite Rose, 2.40 Fredo, 3.15 Balmusette (NAP), 3.45 Whichwaytobougie.

Huntingdon today: 12.45 Vaillant Creek, 1.20 Its A Sting, 1.55 Donapollo, 2.30 Hel Tara, 3.05 Rio Milan, 3.35 Trojan Star.

Today’s other meetings: Lingfield and Wolverhampton.
