REIGNING York champion jockey Ryan Moore will be aiming to add to his winners on Knavesmire today.
Already boasting four victories on the track this year, Moore teams up with West Yorkshire trainer Richard Whitaker to ride Love Island in the BetBright For Your World Cup Bets Choose EBF Nominated Fillies’ Stakes.
Moore’s agent called Whitaker to ask for the ride, one of five mounts the three-times champion jockey is scheduled for at York, and Simon Whitaker, assistant to his father, said: “I think he is the best man riding – he is so focused.”
York’s seven-race card offers more than £100,000 in prize money and starts at 2pm with the other feature being the Neptune Investment Management Stakes.
Top weight will be carried by the David Barron-trained Indy, who is having his first run in a handicap for the Maunby handler.
