IT’S a Classic day at Longchamp tomorrow, with the French 1,000 and 2,000 Guineas taking pride of place, while in Ireland, Classic trials are the main centrepiece of the programme at Leopardstown.

As for the British fare, Sunday punters are served a lukewarm three-course meal of jumping at Kempton, Worcester and Plumpton, with, remarkably, not a single Flat race in sight.

The forecast for next week, however, is considerably brighter. York Racecourse opens for business again on Wednesday. Three days of top-notch racing on Knavesmire, featuring the Dante, the Middleton, the Musidora, Yorkshire Cup and Duke Of York Stakes offers a mouth-watering feast, designed to satisfy even the most cynical of observers.

Back to tomorrow and Alan King will not be complaining about the racing on offer.

The Barbury Castle trainer has an outstanding chance of leaving Kempton with more than one winner and indeed, could well land a four-timer, initiated by Fair Trade, who looked a most unlucky loser at Wetherby a fortnight ago when he started at odds-on.

The previous Wincanton winner was travelling strongly in second place, looking all over a winner waiting to happen, when he blundered badly and unseated his rider at the third-last flight.

Compensation is sought, and is likely to be gained, in the Download The Coral App Novices’ Hurdle.

King and his jockey Wayne Hutchinson can follow-up in the kempton.co.uk Handicap Hurdle with Dalavar, who may not need to improve much on his latest runner-up performance at Wincanton to go one better.

Pantxoa can be another winner for the same trainer-jockey combination in the Arthur Walding Handicap Chase.

A dual-hurdle winner, he has yet to get off the mark in three starts to date over fences, but he shaped well to finish fourth at Ascot last month.

And Gone Too Far can be yet another success story for King and Hutchinson in the Kempton For Wedding National Hunt Flat Race. Beaten only a length into second place by the very smart Oscar Rock at Newbury on his racecourse debut, Gone Too Far can shrug off an absence of more than five months to post his first success.

Doncaster racegoers back in February may well recall Otto The Great winning over fences on his chasing debut under Barry Geraghty.

Tomorrow, the Nicky Henderson-trained gelding reverts to the smaller obstacles and is hard to oppose in the Conor Maynard Live At Kempton 14.09.13 Novices’ Hurdle.

Donald McCain placed Mulligan’s Man to win one bumper and three hurdles last autumn.

He returns to action in the Ladies Day With Toby Anstis 07.09.13 Beginners’ Chase and promises to be a tough nut to crack.

At Worcester, the £20,000 Ladbrokes Download The App Handicap Chase is the feature race and Kings Grey, trained at Saltburn by Keith Reveley, has a leading chance.

A good fourth in a hot race at Aintree’s Grand National meeting last month, Kings Grey has since won at Southwell.

A useful horse at his best, he should make a bold bid.

Also worthy of close attention are the Nicky Henderson bumper newcomer Flying Native (3.40) and the consistent Bullet Street (4.10).
