SHARP-SHOOTING Severus surged to the top of division one in the Ian’s Cars of Barlby Sunday Morning Football League after beating Acorn 7-1.

Prolific marksman Mark Woodward took his tally to eight goals in two games by bagging a hat-trick.

Also on target were Dave Watson (2), Mark Triffitt and Carl Stewart. Acorn’s lone reply was from Nick Hutchinson.

Relegation-threatened York Nomads picked up three vital points when beating division two promotion favourites Dunnington 3-1.

Natty Bradley opened the scoring for Nomads before Chris Bilton scored from the penalty spot to make it 2-0 at the break.

The Nomads increased their lead through Matt Hattie, who then also scored an own goal.

Wigginton Grasshoppers improved their promotion odds with a 5-2 victory over relegated Cueball thanks Michael Clancey (2), Lee Stewart (2) and James Ellerby. Andy Thompson and Matty Simpson replied.

Bubwith Nomads stayed top of division three after thumping Britannia Tadcaster 9-0. Shane Marshall hit a hat-trick of penalties followed by goals from Michael Hemmingway (2), James Andrews (2), Craig Rowden and Aaron Tiplady.

Hemingbrough kept up the pressure on the leaders after beating New Earswick 4-2 thanks to a brace from Luke Zacharenko and goals by Harry Jackson and Guy May.

Beeswing’s Mark Burton, Myron Turbine and Calum McKenzie all hit the target in the 3-1 win at Hambleton.

York Medics are in close pursuit of the front-runners after beating Marcia Grey 4-1.

Two goals from Matty Fortnam put them 2-0 up at half-time.

But a dismissal for deliberate handball yielded a penalty from Nick McBride to halve the deficit. Marcia then had a player sent off before Andrew McCormack and Ben Cresswell netted for the Medics.

Brayton increased their lead at the division four summit after lashing Linton-on-Ouse 6-0 with goals from Matty Curotto (3), Chris Blackwell (2) and Thomas Raines.

Huntington saw off visitors Cross Keys 5-1 through Pete Webster (2), Lewis Musgrave, Chris Long and Aaron Rose. Sam Clayton replied.

Dick Turpin’s Sean O’Reilly opened the scoring when he put the ball in his own net to give St John the lead.

But he was spared total embarrassment when team-mates Johan Morsch and Andy Chambers struck to confirm a 2-1 win over the students.
