TOP of the York Minster Engineering Football League reserve ‘A’ and in seventh heaven – that’s Wigginton Grasshoppers.

They toppled visitors Easingwold 4-1, leading at the interval through a Josh Hutchinson penalty.

Hutchinson then added a second goal with a superb solo effort, before Will Dunlop and Harry McMillan swelled the lead.

Easingwold scored a late consolation from Darren Cooper.

Dringhouses started their game at home to Keystones with only nine men on the field and held out until their numbers were made up but then fell behind to a Chris Walker goal.

Matty Stubbs struck twice to put Dringhouses in front before Matthew Walton levelled.

However, Stubbs completed his hat-trick to clinch the points and leave the students rooted to the foot of the table without a win in five outings.

Second-placed Old Malton slipped up at home to Copmanthorpe, losing by the odd goal in five.

Dean Clarkson and Richie Stevenson were their scorers, while for the visitors Josh Levitt, Andrew Manns and Matty Bostock (penalty) replied.

Huntington Rovers managed a narrow 2-1 home win over Riccall with a first-half goal from Charlie Coopland cancelled out by Dean Westwood before the break. James Dickinson hit the second-half winner for Rovers.

Third-placed Dunnington hit four against Haxby with the division’s top scorer Andy Rose adding two more to his tally. Ian Burgess and Jon Gilham also scored with Dean Westwood responding for Riccall.

Wilberfoss overturned the reserve ‘B’ formbook with a 3–1 home win over leaders Aviva.

James Haughian (2) and Chris Allen did the damage, Kyle Audsley replying for the Insurancemen.

Amotherby & Swinton edged out Bishopthorpe in a nine-goal thriller with strikes by Steven Boyd, George Moore, Matthew Bean, Andy Phillips and Christian Ardisonne.

The Bishopthorpe goal-getters were Gavin Kumar and Lewis Goldsmith with two apiece.

Heslington won 6-2 at York Railway Institute with a Danny Mairs hat-trick supplemented by efforts from Lee Topping, Danny Topping and Tom Taylor.

Free-scoring Fulford opened a five-point gap at the top of reserve ‘C’ after an emphatic 6-1 home cruising of anchor club Crayke.

Their marksmen were Marcus Worsley, Steve Dunn (2), Eddy Gibb, Damon Penny and Joe Konarski, Rob Galtry netting Crayke’s sole rerort.

Poppleton edged into third spot after a 4-1 success at Cliffe, while two goals from Paul Fowler and one from John Cavanagh underpinned a 3-1 triuimph for Stamford Bridge over Hemingbrough.

Mike Young claimed the Hemingbrough goal, but there was a strong suspicion the decisive touch may have come off a Bridge defender for an own goal.

John Richardson hit both goals in Tockwith’s 2-1 win over Rowntrees.

Selby RSSC extended their 100 per cent reserve ‘D’ record thanks to a comfortable 4-0 home win over Bishop Wilton. Ryan Willis (2), Oliver Byron and Stuart Briggs were the scorers.

Civil Service, in second place on goal difference, took the lead against F1 Racing through Ross Dixon and held the narrow advantage going into the break. Late in the game Declan Parks hit two more before F1 responded with a Ben Calverley penalty. Parks completed his hat-trick to make the points safe.
