GIANTKILLERS Tadcaster Magnets are still blazing a trail in the York Minster Engineering Football League Reserve Cup.

Reserve ‘D’ Magnets collected their second reserve ‘A’ scalp as they followed up their win over Haxby United with a 4-2 success against holders York St John.

Phil Smith’s opener for the underdogs was cancelled out by Josh Hind before Rob Parnaby restored Taddy’s lead.

Greg Holt levelled again for the students but two goals from Ryan Ferguson confirmed an impressive result for Magnets.

They now face a quarter-final tie on April 27 against reserve ‘C’ champions York RI.

RI also beat a reserve ‘A’ side, toppling Bishopthorpe 6-4.

The RI goals came from Nick Hartley, Josh Coulson, Lee Dutton and Ryan Davidson plus two from top scorer Steve Gagen. Favourites Dunnington, eyeing a league and cup double, progressed into round three with a 2-1 win at Riccall.

Neil Hunter had given the hosts the lead but Dunnington won the tie with two Andy Rose goals.

Old Malton were dumped out 3-0 by Huntington, whose scorers were Graham McDonald, Chris Johnson and Dan Hunter.

Reserve ‘D’ side Civil Service beat St Clement’s 3-1 thanks to goals by Mark Lund, Sam Wood and Matty Deighton.

Civil Service will host Huntington in the last eight.

Dringhouses came from behind to beat Crayke 4-2.

Josh Williams put Crayke in front but Tom Kite levelled and Luke Whittaker added a second for Dringhouses before the break.

Ben Locke got a third for ’Houses before Wayne Gibson reduced the deficit. George Bissett hit the fourth goal for the victors. Mike Lindsay capped a man-of-the-match performance with a goal as Amotherby overcame reserve ‘C’ rivals Wilberfoss 6-2.

The other goals came from Andy Phillips (2), Matt Shipley, Dan Biggins and an own goal. Mark Bramhall and Dave Burrows replied.

Goals from Steve Dunne, Jimmy Redpath, Liam Hancy and Danny Holmes (2) helped Fulford beat F1 Racing 5-1. In the league, Thorpe United were relegated from reserve ‘B’ after losing 4-3 at home to Heslington.

Lee Topping hit a brace for the visitors.

Malton & Norton need nine points from their remaining five games to clinch promotion from reserve ‘C’ after they beat Poppleton 5-1.

In reserve ‘D’, Strensall pushed their unbeaten home run to seven games after they beat Bishop Wilton 7-0 with goals from Murray Coyle (2), Jamie Lawrence (2), Martin Stone, Tony Liard and Liam Morrison.
