Selby Town were rocked by the departure of manager Mick Gray during the week.

His replacement Gary Paton, who has taken over until at least the end of the season, had to watch as three late goals gave Bridlington Town a 4-1 win at Flaxley Road on Tuesday night.

Former Robin Steve Lyon gave the visitors a first-half lead but Marc Cooper equalised with 64 minutes gone.

Hopes were high that Selby could get a result but Gareth Owen scored twice in three minutes with time running out before Phil Harrison’s 87th-minute goal knocked the stuffing out of them.

It won’t get any easier for Paton tomorrow, as Selby go to Scarborough Athletic for an NCEL premier division derby clash.

Just a point separates the two teams in the table, but Scarborough have played three matches less.

Harrogate Town, who drew 0-0 against high-flying Guiseley at Wetherby Road in midweek, entertain Redditch United in Blue Square Bet North.

Neighbours Harrogate Railway are at Lancaster City in Evo-Stik League division one north.
