SUPER-SUB Tom Hughes rescued Pocklington Town with a late hat-trick as they beat Thorpe United 3-1 in round one of the York Football Association Saturday Senior Cup.

Thorpe led 1-0 with only 15 minutes remaining, but Hughes climbed off the bench to level from close range after a free-kick.

He then latched on to a through ball to put his side in the lead and broke away for a third.

Huntington Rovers took a 2-0 lead against Old Malton St Mary’s in a repeat of last year’s final, but the Ryedale side hit back to win 4-2.

Chris Bilton and Danny Franks put Rovers in command, only for Old Malton to win with strikes by Scott Preston, Danny Fogg, Rob Baker and Sam Thackray.

Malton & Norton beat Selby RSSC 4-1 with goals from Curtis Drummond, Tom Audsley (2) and Tom Garbutt.

Michael Duckworth hit a first-half hat-trick as Dunnington beat Bishopthorpe 5-1. Robert Hart and Alex Lowe also netted, while Bish’s goal came from Jason Davis.

Dringhouses maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with a 5-1 win at Haxby United thanks to a treble by Danny Gray and two from Jimmy Clamp. Haxby’s reply was an own goal.

Wilberfoss trounced Tockwith 5-0 with goals from Tom Robinson (2), Matthew Burrows and Oliver Newby (2).

Luke Zacharenko’s strike and an own goal earned Hemingbrough a surprise 2-1 win over Tadcaster Albion.

In the York FA Saturday Junior Cup, 16-year-old Jordan Grose netted a hat-trick for Huby in their 6-1 win over Stillington.

Chris Durrant, Richard Durrant and Richard Jennison also scored for Huby, while Gary Goodwin was Stillington’s scorer.

Ampleforth were 3-0 winners over Huby Reserves with goals from George Kirk, Lewis Hutchinson and Marc Fowler.

Sam Harrison’s hat-trick helped Fulford United to beat F1 Racing 3-2.

In-form Will Dunlop scored twice as Wigginton Grasshoppers Reserves beat Bubwith 6-1. Liam Holmes, Dave Jeffreys, Sam Jarvis and an own goal completed the rout.

Nestlé Rowntree Reserves lost 6-1 to Amotherby & Swinton Reserves, despite having taken the lead. Richard Cass scored four to add to goals by Andy Phillips and Matthew Lydsley.

St Clement’s were 3-1 victors over Barmby Moor courtesy of goals by Adam Harrison, Mark Harrison and John Alcock.

Terrington Glory thrashed Helperby United 7-0. Dave Bradshaw and Ben Richardson bagged two apiece and there were also strikes by George Everitt, Chris Smith and Andy Park.

Dan Hodge gave Aviva the lead against Osbaldwick, but they lost 4-1. Osbaldwick’s marksmen were Mike Lawrie, Arran Kirby, Mike Whitley and Chris Wheatley.

Slingsby held off a fightback by ten-man LNER Builders to win 4-3.

They led 4-0 through Jamie Wood, Shaun Keefe (2) and Daryl Craggs, before Builders hit back.

Matthew Turnbull scored in extra time as Amotherby and Swinton beat Dunnington 1-0.

Malton & Norton Reserves beat Easingwold Reserves 2-1 with goals from twins Matthew and Simon Reeves.
