WHELDRAKE junior footballers are on cloud nine after retaining the Selby and District Junior Under-12 Cup.
They beat Selby Olympia 3-2 in an exciting game with goals by Ben Reilly, Will Amesbury and Sam Martin, while at the other end, goalkeeper Sam Feathers made a spectacular save to deny Selby an equaliser and so keep his side in it.
The success means back-to-back victories for the squad, after winning the under-11 age group last season.
The winning Wheldrake squad under coach Andy Feathers are: Mathew Gibson, Joe Hunter, Aled Davies, Robin Davis, Sam Martin, Alex Martin, Edward Bradley, Hugh Wollacott, Sam Feathers, David Codling, Ben Reilly, Tom Massey, Alex Martin and Will Amesbury.
The club were founded in 1996 and welcome boys and girls from Wheldrake, Thorganby, Escrick, Naburn and surrounding villages. Log onto www.wjfc.co.uk to find out more.
