PICKERING Town’s bandwagon keeps on going.

The Pikes’ unbeaten run stretched to 14 games in midweek after Ricky Greening’s goal in the 115th minute saw off AFC Emley in the League Cup fourth round.

Hall Road Rangers in the Northern Counties East League premier division tomorrow are next for manager Mark Wood’s men – where matters have been similarly buoyant.

The Pikes have scored 21 goals in their last four league encounters, statistics capped by a superb 5-0 win over Selby Town and a 7-1 demolition of Hallam last Saturday.

That has pushed the Pikes up to sixth in the table and they will fancy their chances of extending their run even further at Hall Road. Wood is delighted by their recent progress.

“We added Danny Gray to our squad when we signed him from Scarborough Athletic,” Wood said. “Then Darren Clough informed us that he is staying with the Pikes. We visited Selby and fully deserved our five-goal victory before we put Hallam to the sword with an outstanding all-round team performance.

“Not a bad week’s work. Let’s hope we can continue with our unbeaten run of games.”

Selby Town are looking to get out of a trough when they visit Hallam in NCEL premier division.

After being bulldozed by Pickering, the Robins lost 2-1 at Flaxley Road against Armthorpe Welfare, Graham Whitehead getting a second-half goal, and have slipped to ninth in the table.

Selby have now lost six of their last seven in all competitions and are in danger of throwing away what had looked like a promising season.

Promotion is within touching distance for Tadcaster Albion.

Albion consolidated their NCEL division one charge with a 2-0 midweek victory at Eccleshill United which sees them in second spot in the table, four points behind Brighouse with three games in hand.

Manager Paul Marshall’s men host the return leg with Eccleshill tomorrow hoping for more of the same.

Marshall, meanwhile, has brought in former Farsley Celtic striker Tom Woolard.

Woolard began his career with Leeds United before before being offered a place at Leicester City. Following his departure from the Foxes, he had a brief spell at Armthorpe Welfare and then spent several years playing in the USA before returning to England last year.

There is no respite from Blue Square North relegation trouble for Harrogate Town.

Workington came from behind to win 2-1 on Tuesday at Wetherby Road – a result which keeps Town bottom.

They go to Ilkeston Town six points adrift of second bottom Vauxhall Motors. The only chink of light is the games they have in hand over some of their rivals.

Harrogate Railway followed a 1-0 win at Ossett with a 3-2 loss at Mossley in UniBond League division one North. The third bottom outfit, nine points clear of Rossendale and the relegation zone, are on their travels again at mid-table AFC Fylde.
