PICKERING Town manager Paul Marshall is exercising caution ahead of his side’s Northern Counties East League premier division meeting with the unpredictable Albion Sports at Mill Lane.

The Pikes lifted themselves up to third in the division with Billy Logan’s late goal in a 3-2 comeback win over Pontefract Collieries.

And while this suggests Town have still been potent in front of goal despite the absence of suspended leading goalscorer Ryan Blott, Marshall has warned the same can be said of tomorrow’s 14th-placed visitors, for whom former Pike Sam Denton netted in last weekend’s 3-2 win over Staveley Miners Welfare.

Marshall said: “They’ve got goals in them with Omar Habeeb and Dan Facey (who both scored against Pickering in September’s 2-2 draw), but you never know what you’re going to get with them.

“They’ve also got Sam Denton playing at centre-half. He was great for us last year, and it’ll be nice to see him again, but I hope he doesn’t play too well on Saturday!”

Harrogate Railway Athletic are gradually recovering ground in the division after a last-gasp penalty against Thackley earned them a 4-3 win and another important three points.

They are next at home to second-bottom Parkgate, who sit one place and four points below the Rail. Parkgate have picked up only four points from the last available 39.

Division one Selby Town tomorrow travel to second-placed Eccleshill United, who the Robins beat 3-1 at Richard Street back in August.

Both teams earned 2-1 wins at the weekend, with Selby overcoming Hallam at home and the Eagles triumphing at Shirebrook Town.

Leaders Knaresborough Town welcome seventh-placed Campion tomorrow after a weekend which saw both teams run out 3-0 away winners, Boro at Worsbrough Bridge Athletic and Campion at Bottesford Town.
