THE Fastpack Ltd York Sunday Morning League division one side Hounds played in the West Riding County Cup last weekend – and progressed to the semi-finals thanks a hard-fought 5-4 win over Kirk Deighton Rangers.

In division one of the league, there were a number of games postponed, so York Nomads closed the gap on second-placed Wigginton to just one poiint.

Nomads beat Marcia Bishopthorpe to take the win. Calum Ward and James Edmond both bagged braces for the home side, while Liam Flanagan and Dan Andrew were also on the scoresheet to finish the game 7-2 in their favour.

The only other division one game saw Thorpe United secure their first win of the season by beating Bubwith 4-2.

Bubwith held a one-goal lead at half-time, but braces from Jack Morris and Reece Stronach helped Thorpe take their first three points of the season.

Division two leaders Selby Olympia made light work of Knapton Lions, winning the game 10-2.

On a testing surface and with Knapton starting a few men down, Selby and the league’s top goalscorer Tom Lazenby were in fine form. Lazenby weighed in with a fantastic five goals – half of Selby's total.

Robert Frair scored a hat-trick, with Jamie Brace and Jordan Pickering also adding to the scoreline for Selby. Declan Richardson scored both goals for Knapton.
