PICKERING Town battled back from a goal behind to record a fine 3-1 victory over Garforth Town.

Paul Marshall's Northern Counties East League premier division promotion-chasers were shocked into life in the 18th minute when the visitors' Mark Simpson broke the deadlock.

However, the Pikes were level at half-time thanks to Joe Dale, and added two more unanswered goals in the second period.

Lewis Taylor fired home from the spot shortly after the hour mark before Ryan Blott gave the home faithful at Mill Lane plenty to cheer with a third goal 20 minutes from time.

Leaders Cleethorpes Town earned a 3-0 home victory over Hemsworth Miners Welfare to remain eight points clear of the Pikes.

In the same division, Harrogate Railway Athletic were hammered 4-0 at home by Rainworth Miners Welfare.

Elsewhere, in Evo-Stik League division one north, Scarborough Athletic crashed to a 3-2 loss at Hyde United.

Craig Nelthorpe put Athletic ahead in the 13th minute, but Matthew Lucid's 90th minute finish proved to be little more than a consolation for the Seadogs.

Finally, Harrogate Town stormed to a 3-0 victory at Boston United in National North, with Simon Ainge (31 minutes), Louie Swain (58) and Joe Leesley (81) on the scoresheet.
