YORK Under-13 Schoolboys fell 3-2 at Leeds after a quick-fire second-half double - being unable to find an equaliser despite piling on the pressure.

York, playing a more conservative formation, appeared to weather the early Leeds storm, with Ben Hudson and Dan Tingle looking assured at the back.

However, when they failed to clear amid several challenges inside the box, Leeds eventually found the net.

York soon hit back. Will Hollings played the ball wide to Taylor Bell who crossed between the retreating defence and the keeper, with Lewis Humphreys heading home.

The visitors were now playing the better football and, while they lost Bell and full-back Joe Roughley to injury, they stayed on top early in the second half.

But when Leeds then had their best spell of the game, they got dividend.

They scored from a free-kick, the referee waving away claims of offside, and, before York could regroup, it became 3-1.

York rallied to such an extent the contest became one-way traffic.

Oliver Kilvington scored with a free-kick, curling the ball around the wall and through a crowded area, but, while they finished the game camped in the home half, they could not find a leveller.

York Schoolboys U12s were unable to bounce back from defeat in the Michael Dale Trophy semi-finals as a second-half turnaround saw them lose 5-3 to big, strong Leeds.

York began on the front foot and went ahead when a pass from man-of-the-match Cole Gayles saw Tom Algar fire home from the edge of the area.

However, Leeds soon benefited from the wet and slippy conditions when a shot from range squirmed underneath York keeper Noah Ellis.

Undeterred, York, impressing in midfield, retook the lead after a great passage of play. Dillon Meehan and Gayles combined to send Tommy Cahill away, and he cut in from the left and slotted home.

Leeds had to resort to long-ball tactics in a bid to hit back but York's defence made it hard for the attackers, while Ellis was more than a match for anything that got through.

Then, after some great tracking back, Gayles won the ball and, after some fancy footwork, sent Cahill racing away again down the left. His cross to the back post saw Kaiden Butler superbly head into the top corner.

However, Leeds pulled one goal back before half-time and started the second period the better, equalising from the rebound after Ellis' initial save.

They then went ahead and, as hard-working York pressed in search of a way back, the hosts sealed victory on the counter attack.

York U11 Schoolboy produced another fine display to beat visitors Redcar & Cleveland 5-0.

The hosts started the stronger and forced early corners, one of which was flicked on by the excellent Adam Clarkson and finished off at the far post by Fraser Clarke.

York continued to dominate possession, reducing Redcar to playing on the break where fine defensive displays from man-of-the-match Paul Iggulden and Ryan Evans ensured the hosts were going to keep a clean sheet.

The impressive Liam Mainprize grabbed two goals to make it 3-0 at half-time and the second period followed the same pattern, with goals by Noah Morgan and Adam Clarkson completing the scoring.
