TADCASTER Albion will seek a quick return to winning ways tomorrow following their midweek frustration as they bid to put a bigger cushion between themselves and the drop zone in Evo-Stik League division one north.

The Brewers go to mid-table side Droylsden looking to bounce back from their controversial League Cup defeat at North Yorkshire rivals Scarborough Athletic.

Taddy had been on top for much of the second half that night but, with eight minutes to go, a Scarborough corner was swung in, with the ball being seemingly trapped between Jameel Ible's legs. The Boro player pivoted on the ground with it before popping it out to Matt Lucid, who dug a shot out and netted the winner.

Albion were incensed that the goal stood, especially as it gave the Seadogs a 2-1 win and progress to the quarter-finals.

On a windy, rainy night, Craig Nelthorpe had hit the bar early on for Scarborough and they soon took the lead, Nelthorpe's in-swinging delivery being guided in off Benny Igiehon’s shoulder.

Boro's early pressure relented, though, and Taddy grew into the tie, with Rob Youhill a constant threat down the right.

Tad still needed Chandler Hallwood to pull off an outstanding save to keep out Nelthorpe's 35-yard rocket. But Youhill saw a looping cross kiss the top of the crossbar before the same player carved out Taddy's first clear-cut opportunity, bending the ball around back line to Josh Greening, who tried to touch it home only for keeper Jordan Porter to collect.

The hosts spurned a golden chance before half-time as Gregg Anderson misjudged a long ball in the wind and helped it on to Billy Logan, but the former Pickering Town striker skewed wide.

Taddy were the better side after the break, though, and deservedly levelled on 77 minutes as Tom Corner flicked on and Greening exquisitely helped the ball over Porter and in.

Taddy then looked the more likely winners, until that sucker punch.

Scarborough visit Hyde United tomorrow, when three points will bolster their promotion hopes and also do Taddy a favour at the other end.

Boss Steve Kittrick, meanwhile, has expressed frustration with transfer targets who have opted to join Evo-Stik League premier division strugglers Frickley instead of his play-off chasing side.

"I tried to get a couple of lads from Halifax to make us stronger but, mysteriously, they have chosen to go to Frickley,” he said. “Sometimes they go for ease but I would rather be playing in a team that is going to win something and a team in the top six than a team in the bottom four or five.”
