GOALKEEPER Gary Stevens has quit Tadcaster Albion after losing his place to new signing Chandler Hallwood.

Stevens, who helped the club win promotion last season, had returned for a second spell with the club in October following injury to former Northern Ireland international Michael Ingham.

However, he was axed for the last league game against Colne following the arrival of former Walsall goalkeeper Hallwood.

“Put simply, I need to play,” said Stevens, who made his farewell appearance in the West Riding County Cup victory over Silsden.”I wish the club, the management team, and the players all the best for the rest of the season and I am confident that they will pick up the points they need.”
