MALT Shovel continued their perfect start to the season with a 6-0 win over promoted Brayton.

Shovel scored only one goal in the first half but in the second came out firing. Veteran striker Gary Collier finished with a hat-trick, with Luke Durham, Darren Moore and Wayne Brook also on target

Wigginton Grasshoppers kept up the pressure at the top, beating York Nomads 4-2.

A powerful low shot from Michael Clancy gave Wiggy the lead but James Edmond equalised on the half-hour mark.

The Nomads were reduced to ten men just before half-time when Samson Wildwood was sent off and, after the break, Tom Coates put Wiggy back ahead.

Pete Laidlaw levelled for the ten men but Wigginton thereafter made their man advantage pay off with goals from Clancy and Jamie Green.

Promoted sides Cliffe and Thorpe United shared the spoils in a 2-2 derby draw.

Cliffe were one up at half-time through Luke Zacharenko while their second came from Tom Hogg, but Thorpe replied through Reece Stonarch and Adam Blades.

Division two leaders Selby Olympia won a hard-fought game against Knapton Lions.

Nathan Horner put Olympia in front but Knapton equalised through centre-back Daniel Murray, with the game remaining 1-1 at half-time despite further chances for both teams.

Selby retook the lead through Tom Lazenby but Knapton again levelled, Robin Stacey on target.

Selby showed their killer instinct, though, and both Lazenby and Horner got second goals.

In the only other division two game, Haxby United took all three points from Rawcliffe Crusaders with a 2-0 win. The marksmen were Matt Bogan and Tom Maskell.
