DRINGHOUSES provided the shock result of the day in the York Minster Engineering Premier Division as they threw the formbook out of the window to defeat league leaders Huntington Rovers 4-0.

Liam Robertson gave the home side the perfect start after just 60 seconds, and Matthew Mulhearn added two more to make it 3-0 at the break.

Huntington briefly threatened a comeback at the start of the second period but Mulhearn completed his hat-trick to crown a deserved victory for Dringhouses.

Wigginton Grasshoppers moved to within four points of the leaders following their 3-0 win over Sporting Knavesmire.

In a fast-paced game with chances at both ends, ‘Hoppers took the lead in the 27th minute when Neale Holmes produced a two-part finish, heading home his own volley.

Minutes later, Knavesmire missed a golden opportunity to equalise, Danny Owers seeing his shot go agonisingly over the bar.

In the second period, 'Hoppers moved further ahead, Jamie Green heading home a Holmes corner to make it 2-0. Stuart Rice then added a third 20 minutes from time to ensure that the points went to the visitors.

Dean Readman was on target for Old Malton St Mary’s, but the champions were held 1-1 by a resolute Church Fenton White Horse.

Osbaldwick gained a 5-0 win over Brooklyn, Sam Shipley bagging a hat-trick, with Danny Penrose and Harry Cartledge also getting on the scoresheet.

Matt Pallister, Oli Baron and Robin gave Copmanthorpe a 3-1 half-time lead at Malton & Norton but it wasn’t enough as the home side roared back for a 5-3 triumph.

Man of the match Kingsley Daffern had given the home side some hope with a first-half goal before Scott Reeves and Scott Preston hit doubles to keep the points at home.

Ben Jones struck five goals and Craig McShane two as York RI won 7-4 at Riccall United.

Nathan Perks (2), Kriss Fawcett and Jeremy James replied.

The two games in Division One both ended in 2-2 draws.

Third-placed Kirkbymoorside held leaders Thorpe Utd, for whom Nathan Parker and John Matthews netted. Poppleton United and Harrison Signs also shared four goals, with the away side twice coming back from a deficit thanks to Mark Benton, whose second effort was a 20-yard netbuster.

There were goals galore in Division Two.

Table-toppers Wilberfoss were made to work hard for the points at Easingwold Town, eventually recording a 6-4 win.

Tom Rushworth hit a hat-trick for the home side, with Andrew Metcalfe Jr adding a fourth.

Sam McAllister, Jack Lockwood, Tom Matthews, Kieron O’Brien and Matthew Wain struck for ‘Foss, with an own goal completing their haul.

Second-placed Barmby Moor defeated Haxby United 4-2, Liam Booth (2), Nick Palfreyman and Curtis Barker being on target for the visitors.

Civil Service moved up to third after an 8-1 rout of Fulford FC.

The home side led after 20 minutes but Service stormed back to record a huge win thanks to double strikes from Josh Shepherd, Craig Theaker, Callum Watson and Aaron North.

Max Faulkner scored for Stamford Bridge but it wasn’t enough as goals from Jason Heslop and Jack Bell guided Strensall to a 2-1success.
