DUNNINGTON and Riccall United will contest the final of the York Minster Engineering League Senior Cup after both sides came through their respective semi-finals against Copmanthorpe and Cliffe.

Mark Featherstone struck for Copmanthorpe as they went down 3-1 to Dunnington, while Gary Collier bagged five goals for Riccall in a 6-0 win at home to Cliffe.

Wayne Brook struck Riccall’s other goal. The final will be played at 6.45pm on Wednesday evening at Wilberfoss.

Hamilton Panthers will face Strensall in the Junior Cup final tomorrow night at Wigginton.

Strensall drew 1-1 at Haxby United in their semi-final but prevailed 3-1 on penalties. Matt Wash was on target for the home side with Jack Bell hitting Strensall’s equaliser.

James Dunwoody and Danny Temple found the net for Harrison Signs in their Reserve Cup semi-final with Tockwith. Stuart Longbottom replied.

Huntington Rovers went 4-0 up at half-time in their clash with Wigginton Grasshoppers, and it could easily have been more. Pete Laidlaw headed the home side in front after 20 minutes before Ash Hill struck a sweet 20 yard half-volley.

Hill completed his brace with a low right-footed shot and Lee Bunce produced an excellent chest and volley finish to put Rovers four clear just before half-time.

The second half saw Wigginton come into the game as a volley from Jamie Green and a Jordan McGuigan header made it 4-2.

Pete Laidlaw then hit his second of the game before an own goal made it 6-2 to Rovers with the tie seemingly beyond Wigginton’s reach.

However, the visitors rallied and an excellent goal from James Sutton was followed by a rifled shot by the now outfield Michael Clancy as Wigginton sought to restore a bit of pride.

A fifth ‘Hoppers goal in injury time from Green led to a frantic finish but Rovers hung on for a deserved success. They play Harrison Signs at York RI tonight.

Malton and Norton confirmed their status as division one champions with a 6-0 win over Easingwold Town.

Simon Reeves bagged a hat-trick in the win with Steve Twamley, Matty Reeves and Liam Preston also finding the net.

Their promotion means that they will have two local derbies next year following Brooklyn’s survival in the premier division, with league champions Old Malton St Mary’s providing their other familiar opposition.

Harrison Signs were relegated from the top division after failing to pick up a point from their final match against Copmanthorpe, which they lost 4-3.

Jonathan Brown (2), Jake Moyse and John Patrick were on target for Cop with Neil Richardson, Rob Hutton and Adam Osguthorpe netting for Signs.

In division two, promoted Kirkbymoorside rounded off their season with a 3-3 draw at home to Barmby Moor. Aaron Rivis (2) and Ryan Rivis struck for the Moorsiders with Liam Booth, Daniel Croft and Jack Lockwood replying.

A goal from Oli Baron gave Copmanthorpe a 1-0 win over Old Malton St Mary’s in Reserve A.
