PICKERING Town paid for a lack of discipline in their 2-1 defeat at Worksop Town in a battle of fifth and sixth in the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

They had Lewis Taylor (50th minute), Niall Tilsley (78) and Joe Danby (79) all booked before Taylor was sent off in the 93rd minute.

However, the visitors took the lead in the seventh minute when Julian Lawrence headed powerfully past his own keeper from an inch-perfect Mitch Hamilton cross.

But any jubilation the Pikes may have had was quickly dissipitated when Matty Turnbull's clearance rebounded in a minute later off Worksop's Andre Johnson.

The Pikes earned a penalty in the 43rd minute when James Bennett was tripped, but Calum Ward's spot-kick hit the outside of a post.

Turnbull had a header cleared off the line in the second half but, in the 82nd minute, Tilsley pushed a Worksop player over after some niggle, Johnson scoring from the resulting spot-kick.

After the final whistle, Taylor was shown a red card after having words with the referee.

In Division One, Selby Town trailed lowly visitors Worsbrough Bridge Athletic 2-0 after 58 minutes, but bounced back with a Chris Jackson brace to earn a point, while Knaresborough Town lost to a Ryan Williams strike from second-placed visitors AFC Mansfield.

Struggling Harrogate Railway Athletic led 3-2 at Mossley in Evo-Stik Division One North going into stoppage time, only to concede THREE goals.

After Chris Ovington (19, 54) and Paul Beesley (69) put them 3-2 ahead, substitute Doug Carroll (91, 94) and Tom Pratt (98), to complete his hat-trick, netted for Mossley.

There was also a late goal for Scarborough Athletic at home to Ossett Town.

Stephen Mallory had put Athletic ahead with a 45-yard free-kick, and Niall Flint powered home a header in injury time after new signing Jamie Price, who has joined from Bradford Park Avenue, was influential in the move against ten-man Ossett, who had Reece Farnhill sent off a minute after they had equalised.

Harrogate Town missed the chance to go third in Vanarama National League North after they could only draw 1-1 at home to tenth-placed Curzon Ashton, Brendon Daniels equalising from the spot for Town in the 63rd minute.
