TADCASTER ALBION returned to Northern Counties East League premier division action after 33 days because of the horrendous weather with a 3-1 victory over Brigg Town thanks to a hat-trick from skipper Jimmy Beadle.

The Brewers were enraged not to get a penalty on seven minutes when Josh Greening was impeded and Beadle leathered a volley into the side netting on 17 minutes when he only needed to hit the target.

Defender Gregg Anderson glanced over from close range and Albion spurned another chance when Beadle cleverly flicked the ball in behind the Brigg defence to the on rushing Josh Greening, whose goal bound shot was terrifically saved by stopper Jody Barford.

With half-time approaching, Tadcaster pushed hard to break the deadlock and, in the 45th minute, Dan Clayton whipped in a beauty of a cross to Beadle, who headed into the top corner expertly.

The home side came out after the break and attacked from the start. It looked like the match would be levelled as a couple of ricochets fell kindly for Paul Grimes inside the area but Matt Heath put in an exceptional last-ditch tackle to deny the striker a shot at goal.

Substitute Connor Sellars came close to scoring his first for the club with a powerful strike which whistled inches wide of the mark and Taddy did double their lead in the 62nd minute through Beadle once more.

Jordan Armstrong floated a cross into the box for the former York City man to glance it into the far corner.

Two minutes later, Beadle completed his hat-trick with the best goal of the lot.

The Tadcaster skipper couldn’t quite control a cute flick from Greening but he quickly turned and contested Oliver Fisher for the ball. Beadle outmuscled the Brigg full-back and hit a stunning strike from 23 yards which dipped into the far corner.

The home side rallied and grabbed a consolation goal with ten minutes remaining. Elliott Broughton slotted in substitute David Dean, who rolled the ball through Gary Stevens’ legs and into the back of the net.

Taddy nearly netted a fourth in the last ten minutes as Jonathan Greening pulled it back to brother Josh but the attacker struck narrowly over the target.

The Brewers sat deep in the final stages and Brigg pushed hard to score a second but Gregg Anderson and Matt Heath defended terrifically to keep them out.
