HUNTINGTON Rovers moved back to the top of York Minster Engineering League Reserve 'A' with a 6-1 win over Harrison Signs.

John Patrick equalised for Rovers after Lee Downham had given Signs an early lead. Pete Laidlaw made it 2-1 to Huntington before the break before Lee Bunce hit their third after the restart.

Laidlaw then scored his second and Rovers' fourth from the penalty spot. New signing Liam Flanagan scored the goal of the game on his debut, a 25-yard screamer, before brother Kieran completed the rout late on.

Third-placed Thorpe United won 2-1 at Riccal and Jack Thompson (2) and Alessandro Delrio were on target for Wigginton Grasshoppers but the home side were beaten 6-3 by Old Malton St Mary's.

Copmanthorpe fired the biggest score of the day, defeating Church Fenton White Horse 12-3. Oli Baron and Danny Leach bagged hat-tricks with Mark Featherstone (2), Tom Settle, Sam White, Lewis Chipchase and Mike Peace also on target.

Kingsley Daffern hit the only goal of the game as Reserve 'B' leaders Malton and Norton defeated second-placed Tockwith.

Hemingbrough leapfrogged Brooklyn into third spot with a 3-1 win over their rivals. Stamford Bridge lost a seven goal thriller to Pocklington 4-3 and Haxby United gained a 2-0 victory at Easingwold. Bishopthorpe won 2-0 against Heslington.

Osbaldwick made it six from six in Reserve 'C' with a 3-1 win over Civil Service. Tom Wright struck for the visitors. Selby Olympia and Malt Shovel played out a high-scoring 4-4 draw.

A rusty looking Kirkbymoorside, meanwhile, started the new year with a hard fought 4-1 win at Selby Olympia in the York FA Junior Cup.

The home side began at a frenetic pace, pressing the Moorsiders high up the pitch and bombing forward at every opportunity.

But it was Kirkby who took the lead after nine minutes when a Chris Hodgson corner was met at the back post with a powerful Shaun Walker header.

Selby continued to push forward and, with the Moorsiders struggling to come to terms with the boggy pitch, it was no surprise when they equalised.

A cross into the box on 43 minutes was dropped by keeper Chris Nichols. He seemed to gather the ball at the second attempt but, despite protestations that it had been kicked out of his hands, the referee allowed the goal to stand.

The Moorsiders started the second half much better and regained the lead on 54 minutes as Alex Strickland powered his way down the right wing and delivered a perfect cross into the near post for Aaran Rivis to head home.

Two minutes later, it was three as Shaun Cox won the ball on the left and passed to Strickland, who put in another cross which found Sarjo Cham's head.

The game was wrapped up on 86 minutes as Chris Hodgson chased a ball down on the right wing and saw his cross met by Rivis.
