PREMIER division high-fliers Huntington Rovers suffered a shock in the York Minster Engineering League Senior Cup as they were humbled 4-1 by up-and-coming Sporting Knavesmire.

Knavesmire made the most of their chances as they assumed a 3-0 half-time lead through Michael Eddom, Tom Williams and Alex Dale, and they went further clear after the interval through Danny Owers.

Rovers gained a late consolation courtesy of John Patrick but Knavesmire’s name was confirmed in the third-round draw.

Malton & Norton, of division one, pushed Old Malton St Mary's all the way to penalties for the second successive week - but again it was the premier division side that won 5-4 in the shootout.

Simon Reeves and Scott Preston twice gave M&N the lead with St Mary’s leaving it until the last minute to level for a second time and take the tie to spot kicks.
