HUNTINGTON Rovers were 3-0 up at York RI at half-time in their York FA Saturday Senior Cup clash but had to fight off a mini revival after the break.

The York Minster Engineering League premier division leaders eventually ran out 5-3 winners.

A Scott Preston brace and a goal from Matty Reeves proved crucial in Malton & Norton's 3-3 draw at home to Hemingbrough United. The Ryedale outfit would come through 7-6 on penalties to reach the next round.

Tom Owen also netted twice and Dan Owers got on the scoresheet as Sporting Knavesmire won 3-2 at Tockwith.

F1 Racing were quick off the line against Rawcliffe. The home side won 8-3 with Chris Dempsey grabbing a hat-trick and Danny Penrose bagging a brace. Teenager Josh Tomlin-Kent got his first goal for the club, aged only 17, and Adam Tiffany and Jason McCloud also got in on the act.

A strong Dunnington side showed their experience when beating a young Dringhouses outfit 4-1 on the road while Old Malton St Mary's went goal crazy against Cliffe.

Richard Dunning's men slammed home 15 goals with their visitors managing a mere single consolation.

In the Junior Cup, Easingwold Town Reserves put five past South Milford, who could only muster two in reply.

Town's Josh Cryer scored four times, with John Dey getting the other goal.

Both Civil Service sides went through to the second round.

The first team beat Wilberfoss 3-1 and the reserves were 4-1 winners at home to Tockwith Reserves with goals from James Shaw, James Hogg, Lucas Owen and a 40-yard screamer from Nick Dunlop.

Keeper Rich Thompson also shone with a penalty save.

After being two down after only nine minutes, Strensall dug deep and fought back to win 5-3 at Poppleton United Reserves. A Kieran Flanagan hat-trick and two goals from Lee Bunce ensured Huntington Rovers Reserves ran out 5-2 winners at home to Malton & Norton Reserves.

With most teams tied up in FA Cup action, there were only two games played in the York Minster Engineering League.

Dale Holding's second half goal proved the difference between Heslington and York St John, with the former winning the division one clash 1-0. In Division four, Wetherby Athletic proved too strong for Pollington, for whom Mark Baguley and Stuart Harrison scored.
