THERE were no major surprises in round two of the York Sunday Morning Football League Challenge Trophy as all of the favourites progressed to the next round with relative ease.

Britannia Tadcaster recorded the highest score of the day with an 11-1 victory over Selby RSSC.

The goals in an impressive performance came from Tom Deighton (3), Callum Willoughby (2), Tom Nicholas (2), Danny Bass (2), Matty Horner and Ryan Ferguson.

Hounds also gained a convincing win, seeing off York RI 9-0.

Chris Jackson bagged four of their haul, double the number achieved by his brother, Alan. Louis Blackwell, Gavin Clamp and long-serving Richard Gladwell completed the scoring.

More goals for club stalwarts were seen at Thorpe United for Dunnington, where Rob Hart and Mike Noble notched in the away side’s 5-1 win.

Sam Wildwood, Harry Lynn and Danny Aston also scored for the visitors.

Kyle Hesling netted for the home side after John Shearsmith’s impressive build-up play.

Wigginton Grasshoppers moved into the third round draw after a 5-2 triumph over Marcia Bishopthorpe.

Jordan Holt powered home a header after ten minutes and Tom Coates doubled the advantage minutes later.

Marcia pulled a goal back after half-time before Jamie Green restored Hoppers two-goal advantage.

Green then hit a stunning 18-yard volley to make it 4-1 before the Bishopthorpe side closed the gap once again.

Wiggy player-manager Graham Ireton netted Grasshoppers’ fifth in the dying minutes.

Marcia Grey moved past York Phoenix following a painless 7-0 victory.

In league action, Dave Hullah scored twice as Albion Vaults gained a 4-3 success at Bubwith White Swan.

Josh Simpson was also on target for the home side, but it was George Wojcik who grabbed their late winner.

Ryan Sedman (2) and Kristian Wood replied.

York Nomads won 5-0 at Drax to join Marcia Grey at the top of division two.

Sam Thompson bagged a brace with Craig Hargreaves, Steve Smith and Tom Simpson also getting onto the scoresheet.

Cliffe moved to the top of division three after a Tom Grundy hat-trick inspired them to an 8-3 win over second-placed Haxby United.

Kevin Taylor scored twice, with Dan Richardson, Kieran Dinsdale and Jay Grundy also finding the target.

York Wanderers led Wentworth 2-1 at the break and finished the stronger to see out the game 5-2.

Dom Green and Mutlu Cukurova notched for the ex-students' team.

Janos Takac scored the only goal as Selby Olympia gained a 1-0 triumph over York Medics.
