KNOCKOUT form is a major boost for Selby Town manager Dave Ricardo.

The Robins' results have dipped in Northern Counties East League division one, but the Flaxley Road outfit are still unbeaten in four cup ties.

The last two league games have ended in 4-3 and 4-0 defeats to Winterton and Shirebrook respectively, but Ricardo was buoyed by Tuesday's 1-0 victory over Ossett Albion in round one of the West Riding County Cup.

The manager is hoping to repeat that showing in tomorrow's FA Vase second qualifying round home clash with Bacup & Rossendale Borough.

Having already beaten Stockport Sports in the Vase over two games, while also dumping Louth Town out of the League Cup, Ricardo's men are on the trail of silverware on three fronts.

"We are a good side in cup matches," said Ricardo. "We've had good wins in the League Cup and the Vase. We need to keep doing that tomorrow.

"Bacup & Rossendale is a massive game for us. A run in the Vase helps the club financially, but it can also help with the profile of the club.

"Hopefully we will get good support. The crowd can drive the players on and be a big help in games like this."

On his club's recent form, Ricardo said: "Winterton was horrific. We played a lot better against Shirebrook but had Ryan Robinson harshly sent off in the second half.

"We moved the ball better and there was a lot more quality and tempo, plus the team spirit was there. We took that into the Ossett game and hopefully we can take it into tomorrow."

The Robins have a full squad to choose from, with Jamie Forrester and Matty Start back from East Riding County duty and Richard Medcalf fully fit after injury.

Mick Jones and Ryan O'Reilly have left the club.

Pickering Town travel to Alnwick Town in the Vase, with manager Mick Cook looking for a repeat of the performance levels from last weekend's 3-2 victory over high-flying Handsworth Parramore.

Cook said: "I don't know much about Alnwick, but it is never easy playing away against a Northern League side.

"We played against Washington in the FA Cup and got a trouncing."

Injured trio Wayne Aziz, Ged Dalton and Frank Belt are three to four weeks away from a first-team return.
