DUNNINGTON only need a point from tonight’s game at home to Easingwold Town to clinch the York Minster Engineering Football League premier division title.

Wigginton Grasshoppers lost 2-1 at home to York St John on Monday night to virtually hand Dunnington, 3-0 winners at Copmanthorpe, the top flight trophy.

Dunnington extended their unbeaten run to 29 games thanks to first-half goals from Luke Dove and Tom Matthews, and a second-half strike from Josh Tattersall.

Wigginton endured a fourth consecutive home game without a win against the students.

The hosts peppered the visitors’ goal but their only reward was a scrambled effort from Lee Stewart.

St John made the most of their limited chances with goals from Michael Grogan and Chris Walker.

Rowntrees collected three key points in their fight against relegation thanks to a 4-1 win over Selby RSSC.

A Carl Stewart penalty separated the sides at the break. Joe Cox made it 2-0 on 70 minutes and, although Selby pulled a goal back through Oliver Taggert, Cox and Kev Butler ensured maximum points.

Relegation-threatened Stamford Bridge let slip a 4-2 lead at Fulford to lose 5-4 in division two.

Bridge now need to pick up nine points from their three remaining games – and Cliffe to lose their last three games – to avoid the drop.

The visitors’ goals came from Darren Burke (2), Chris Bowles and Mike Pearson, while the hosts won it thanks to Sam Pepper, Dave Warner, Sam Harrison and Ben Orange (2).

Riccall picked up their first win in 11 games in reserve ‘A’ as they won 2-1 at Huntington Rovers.

Kieran Flanagan put the hosts in front, but second half strikes from Brett Collier and Tom Wright swung the game relegated Riccall’s way.

Old Malton suffered their first home defeat in five games, going down 5-4 to Dringhouses.

The St Mary’s goals were shared between Jack Thackray (2), Adam Newell and Josh Bowen, but ’Houses won it with strikes from George Bissett, Cameron Hearn and Tom Hawksby, who hit a second half hat-trick.

White Horse clinched the reserve ‘B’ title with a 1-0 win over Tadcaster Magnets, thanks to Gary Martin’s first league goal of the season.

Fulford United kept their promotion bid on track with a 2-1 win at Bishopthorpe. Trailing at the break to a James Mackie goal, Chris Ling levelled for Fulford from the penalty spot and the winner was an own goal.

Jimmy Dunwoody scored twice for Aviva in a 3-0 win at Pocklington. Geoff Pinkney got the third.

In Reserve ‘C’, a Ryan Munford hat-trick helped basement side Strensall register a first away win of the season, a 3-1 success against Poppleton, whose scorer was Nick Moss.

Tadcaster Town took an early lead at F1 Racing in reserve ‘D’, but Jorge Garcia equalised before the break and a second half brace from Dan Cooper saw F1 win 3-1.
