VICTORIES for each of the top three sides left leaders Dunnington on course for the York Minster Engineering Football League premier division title.

Dunnington tasted success at Dringhouses for the first time since January 2009, leading 2-0 at half-time thanks to Tom Richards and Scott Sullivan.

The hosts controlled the second half but their only reward was a Liam Stilgoe header as Dunnington held on to win 2-1.

Second-placed Wigginton Grasshoppers recorded their first win at York St John in four years, a 5-0 triumph keeping alive their slim title hopes.

Lee McQuade, the top flight’s leading scorer, led the rout with a hat-trick to take his tally for the season to 28. Lee Stewart and Ben Thompson also scored.

Third-placed Old Malton St Mary’s comfortably accounted for struggling Hamilton Panthers, winning 5-0 with goals from Dean Nuttall, Darren Dunning, Danny Fogg and Damian Cox (2).

Riccall completed the double over Terrington Glory as they followed up their 1-0 win at Terrington in November by winning the return 1-0, Andy Addison hitting the only goal.

Selby RSSC had to wait until March to record their first home win in the premier division, and they made it two in a row as they defeated York RI 7-2.

The Selby goals were shared between Chris Coxen, Matty Muscroft, Rob Friar, John Page and Louis Blackwell, with a hat-trick.

Relegation-threatened Rowntrees avenged a 7-0 drubbing at the hands of Easingwold by winning the reverse fixture 5-3.

Matt Walters opened the scoring just before the half hour mark and Nestle added two further goals from Carl Stewart and Joe Cox five minutes either side of the interval to lead 3-0.

Angus Taylor and Mark Coulson dragged Easingwold back into the game, but a Paul Scaife strike and a second from Stewart ensured Rowntrees fight on in the battle to avoid the drop.

Adam Patterson added a late goal for Easingwold.

Meanwhile, Church Fenton White Horse kept in touch with the promotion contenders in division one thanks to a 2-0 home win over Pocklington.

The winning goals were both scored in the first half, through John Marshall and John Langrick.

Haxby recorded their first double of the season as they defeated Wilberfoss 5-0. Matty Wash hit a hat-trick to add to goals from Billy Ross and Nathan Green.

The result confirms that both sides have been relegated in successive seasons and will meet again next season in division two.

Hemingbrough, who have booked their place in the East Riding Cup final, recorded a first win over Tockwith in seven attempts as they came from trailing to a Robert Wilson goal at the break to win 3-1 with goals from Aidie Wood and Jamie Wheeler (2).
