TEENAGER Scott Reeves was the scourge of Copmanthorpe in the HPH York Vale Cricket League.

The 18-year-old Bishopthorpe all-rounder blasted an unbeaten 128 to launch his side to 233-4 at tea and then followed up Ian Holmes’ 4-19 with 2-29 as the Bishops won by 88 runs.

Division one leaders Hemingbrough came unstuck at North Cave by 45 runs – despite the best efforts of Tom Collins.

Cave were bowled out for 167, Collins taking 3-37 then hit a brave 72 as Hemingbrough found themselves 25-4, Craig Hewson (4-22) the destroyer before James Ferguson (4-28) mopped up the tail.

Solid batting by Clifton Alliance, led by Jon Bladen’s 57 saw off the challenge of Heworth by 90 runs.

After bowling out Barmby Moor for only 97, University of York Staff fancied their chances of victory but Moor’s attack, led by Charlie Cameron (3-17) was even sharper as Uni lost by a dozen runs.

Burn, on the other hand, were full of runs, rattling up 274-6 in the win against Wheldrake with major contributions by Rob Webster (93) and Ed Clark (66) before team-mate Graham Parker took 4-10 in 17 deliveries.

Stockton & Hopgrove made short work of division two bottom club North Duffield. Dave Kerrison (55) and Pete Thistleton (46) put on 102 for the third wicket in Stockton’s 215-9.

Seventeen-year-old Oliver Steels was Melbourne’s match-winner against Westow, striking an unbeaten 79, sharing a 134-run partnership with Matt Beevers (60 not out) and taking 3-27.

Quality swing bowling by Steve Wragg (4-11) set up Ben Johnson’s victory against Askham Bryan, which featured 57 from Martyn Reynolds.

Kelfield’s win against Fulfordgate was based on a 132-run stand between Matt Walker (87) and Phil Smith (77).

Ovington maintained their good form as Paul Mizon’s 62 lifted them from 88-8 to a match-winning 156 all out against Selby.

There’s no stopping Hirst Courtney opener Brian Howard in division three. He made it back-to-back centuries, hitting eight sixes in his 100, as Stillingfleet, shot out for just 36, were crushed by 203 runs.

Joe Robinson (5-15) took a hat-trick as Thixendale defeated Hemingbrough II by six wickets.

Fourth division outfit Pocklington won their first game of the season seeing off Huntington by 62 runs, Billy Higgins taking 5-41.

Heworth II looked on course to overhaul Malton & Old Malton’s 110 but lost their last four wickets for two runs and slipped to a 19-run defeat, Malt’s Tom Hodgson returning 4-8. York RI beat Copmanthorpe II despite Roy Atkinson’s unbeaten 72.

Burn inched closer to the division five title with Nigel Croad (60 not out and 3-14) starring in the win over Malton & Old Malton II.
