OVINGTON made it three wins in a row as they beat Askham Bryan by eight wickets in division one of the HPH York Vale Cricket League.

After losing their opening game of the season, the Knavesmire side have roared back to form. Neil Metcalfe took 5-32 including Parag Mohite (55) and Ujwal Bhagwat (60) as Askham tumbled from 111-1 to 137-7, finishing on 193 all out. Tom Armes (68no) and Craig Nicoll (69no) put together an unbroken partnership of 123 as Ovington romped home.

Clifton Alliance secured their fourth straight win in a low-scoring game against Kelfield.

Matt Mellor (4-17) and Richard Marshall (3-26) were Alliance’s most successful bowlers. After struggling to 76-5, Clifton finally reached the target with four overs to spare.

Mark Earle (95) and Andrew Phillips (32) added 107 for the second wicket as Westow closed on 225-6 against Melbourne.

Tim Blackmore (40) and Ben Shingles (48) gave Melbourne a decent start but they crumbled to 161 all out.

Bottom club Stockton & Hopgrove lost by five wickets to Wheldrake.

Stockton skipper Richard Kerrison notched 64 in a total of 160. Wheldrake opener Anthony Carter (65) rode his luck before Nick Myers (33no) wrapped up the victory.

Neil Drew (63) batted well to steer Ben Johnson to 193 against Burn whose opener Leigh Adamson made 75 before Phil Alford's unbeaten 71 took Burn to victory.

Thorpe Willoughby twice threw away positions of dominance to lose to visitors Thixendale in division two by 30 runs. Thix were rocking on 89-7 after 16-year-old Jamie Richardson took 4-34. But Ray Walker cracked 57 to see them total 172 all out. The Field Laners reached 125-4 with plenty of overs in hand but once Elliott Precious (69) was caught and bowled by Walker (4-10) the last six wickets tumbled for 17 runs.

Fulfordgate’s band of veterans lost to a youthful Yapham side who racked up 212-5, Adam Smith clubbing 61 from 50 balls.

Fulfordgate took 12 off the opening over but slumped to 61-5 before Mick Nelson (66no)recovered things, adding an unbeaten 63 with brother Stuart (23no) as they secured late bonus points.

Stamford Bridge crushed a young Malton & Old Malton side by 187 runs.

Charlie Wilson scored 68 at the top of Bridge’s order and Malt’s weakened batting line-up offered little in response.

An experienced eight-man Hemingbrough defied the odds to narrowly beat Hirst Courtney.

Johnny Cockerill (69no) helped Hemingbrough total 137-7, Luke Mitchell taking 4-20.

Hirst looked comfortable at 103-4 but Granville North claimed 4-39, despite carrying a calf injury, to pull off a surprise win.

Mark Webster scored 140 in Burn II's victory over Dunnington in division three, hitting 25 fours.

Dunnington fell well short despite Harry Griffiths scoring 84 not out.

Acomb’s Brad Keel (142) and John Askham (52) compiled a huge second-wicket partnership in a thumping win against Tadcaster Magnet.

An opening stand of 136 between Richard Garside (80) and Kareem Baqai (46) set up Ovington III’s winning 205-4 against Pocklington. Henry Sumner, on senior debut, picked up 4-42 for Pock.

A Yapham side including three 13-year-old debutants was well beaten by Stamford Bridge II. Fifteen-year-old Louis Sangwin finished with 5-55 as Bridge made 197.

Yapham were all out for 80, Liam Easton taking 4-8.
