THE Clifton Park pitch is proving to be a batsman's paradise in the Oxbridge Yorkshire ECB County Premier Cricket League - and York opener Dan Wilson is cashing in.

The Australian took his run total for the league season to 677 in seven matches after smashing 142 in an incomplete win over Yorkshire Academy.

That century on Bank Holiday Monday came hot on the heels of his incredible 214 in a record opening stand against Castleford on Saturday.

Wilson was involved in three main partnerships against Yorkshire Academy as the hosts made 308-6.

The opening stand between Wilson and Graeme Tomlinson put on 54 in 42 minutes.

Wilson then shared a stand of 133 for the third wicket with Alex Collins, before putting on 46 in only 24 minutes for the fourth wicket with Nick Kay.

When Wilson was fourth out with the score on 243, he had scored his 142 runs off 140 balls in 173 minutes. The knock included 18 fours and two sixes.

Alex Collins made 47 and Kay, who was undefeated at the end of the innings on 69, scored his runs off 52 balls, including five fours and three sixes.

Towards the end of the innings, the Academy spinners suffered heavy punishment, mainly from Kay. Gurnam Randhawa had the best return of 3-86 off 14 overs.

York's final total of 308-6 was the second consecutive home league match when the 300 run mark had been achieved.

The Academy openers had 50 on the board in ten overs before Robert Flack got Callum Geldhart lbw. Chris Allison, batting at three, was out in identical fashion without scoring.

The third-wicket pair of opener Gary Balance and St Peter's School student Johnny Bairstow added 110 runs in 72 minutes before Bairstow gave Simon Mason a catch in the deep off skipper Marcus Wood.

Wood tempted Balance to try another big hit, which was safely held by Tomlinson. James Morgan and skipper Azeem Rafiq added 66 before Rafiq was run out.

Morgan was eighth man out in the 52nd over, caught for 55 off Dan Wilson.

In the final three overs, Michael Chadwick ensured the Academy made 281-8 to claim two points for reaching 90 per cent of 278.

York took six points from the win.
