CHRIS Grey’s second century in as many weeks was not enough to prevent Hull from suffering a third straight defeat as they lost a high-scoring encounter at home to Driffield Town.

Both sides went into the match searching for a first Hunters ECB Yorkshire Premier League North victory of the season, and Driffield posted 298-9, which included half-centuries from Afaq Rahim (62) and Ben Kohler-Cadmore (84), despite the efforts of Tom Appleyard (4-84).

The visitors looked capable of reaching their target while Grey (103no) and Andrew Simpson (54) were at the crease but they were pegged back by three wickets each from Nick Hardgrave (3-61) and Casey Rudd (3-50), eventually finishing on 283-9 to secure their first points of the campaign in an ultimately losing effort.

York maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with a 35-run victory over visitors Stamford Bridge.

The hosts were indebted to Adam McAuley, who held the innings together with 78 as Luke Robinson collected 3-45 to help restrict York to 219-9.

The visitors were in the ascendancy with Stuart Boyle (62) and Dominic Rhodes (44) looking to have the chase under control at 159-4, but Tom Pringle (5-45) had other ideas, bowling the home side to maximum points.

A battle between two of the sides fancied to challenge for the title took place at St George’s Road, and went the way of Harrogate, with the hosts defending their unbeaten record at the cost of Yorkshire Academy’s own winning start.

But it took an outstanding effort from Tom Geeson-Brown (51no) and Harry Stow (30no) to accomplish it.

The reigning champions looked to be heading for defeat after Jared Warner (3-11) had helped reduce them to 135-8 chasing 220, but the pair added an unbeaten 86 for the ninth wicket to take the points.

Earlier, Nathan Snookes top-scored for the Academy with 72 and Yaaser Imtiaz made 43 as Kallen Bond took 4-17 to limit their gains.

Scarborough completes the trio of unbeaten sides at the head of the table after they scored a straightforward victory over a still-winless Sheriff Hutton Bridge at North Marine Road.

Kristian Wilkinson (3-18) and Ben Elvidge (3-13) shared six wickets as, despite skipper Russell Robinson’s 40, his side were bowled out for 118.

Alex Carrie top-scored with 39 as the hosts romped home for the loss of just three wickets with more than 15 overs to spare.

The day's closest finish came in the derby between Acomb and Clifton Alliance at The Green.

Jack Beath improved on the previous weeks’ 84 with 90, and a half-century from Scott Hopkinson (51) helped the visitors reach 243-9.

Although the home side battled back through Jack Spence (61) and Matthew Dale (49), they could only reach 239-8 in reply, but the consolation was a well-earned four points.

Two sides in search of a first victory met at Back Lane, where visitors Woodhouse Grange opened their account at the expense of Easingwold.

Steve Burdett (3-40) and Chris Suddaby (3-31) shared six wickets as the home side were dismissed for 127.

The visitors then wasted no time chasing down the total, with Tom Young (51) and Andrew Bilton (51no) both passing fifty in an innings that only lasted just beyond 25 overs.
