GETTING one over on Hull is a priority as York Cricket Club look to notch a perfect ten tomorrow.

The Clifton Parkers travel to Humberside in search of their tenth successive victory - and they are playing the team who were the last to conquer them in any competition.

That defeat, in a run-fest in June, was the nadir of a poor start to the Solly Sports Yorkshire ECB County Premier League campaign and prompted plenty of soul searching in the Shipton Road clubhouse.

But captain Nick Kay and his men have been in spectacular form since and are keen to right the wrongs of their last loss.

"We are hoping the lads won't need any motivation for the game," he said. "They owe the club a result. It was a low point for many of us during our time at the club. It was a defeat that never should have happened.

"Take nothing away from Hull and Andrew Simpson and it was a springboard for what we have managed to produce since. Everyone looked in the mirror and, from that point, we have never looked back.

"There are always areas of performance that you look at and say 'we could have done better' but we have got some good cricketers and, when everyone comes to the party, we are going to win more games than we lose.

"We have managed to beat a lot of good sides, like Rotherham and the Academy, and that has got us back in the title race."

Kay, whose men are three points behind long time leaders Barnsley in the table, will be without Chris Booth, while former Derbyshire player Richard Brown is expected to make his debut.
