Joint division three leaders Duncombe Park and Woodhouse Grange both recorded comfortable wins in the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League.

Park travelled to Malton & Old Malton II, where the game was reduced to 38 overs per side.

Matt Hodgson made 29 and Stu Whatmore 35 not out for the home team as Jack Crannidge took 3-35.

However, the total of 113-7 proved to be inadequate as Brian Leckenby (47no) and Peter Kent (36) saw the Helmsley side home with six wickets and seven overs to spare.

Woodhouse Grange entertained fourth-placed Sheriff Hutton, who opted to bowl first. Wayne Fawcett had decent figures of 5-40 in 11 overs but was unable to prevent Grange reaching 169-7 as Jon Bean (42) and Rich Winterburn (37) got useful runs. Sheriff were then at the mercy of Matt Shepherd who took 5-19 in ten overs and they were all out for 79.

Hovingham came within one wicket of clinching their first win of the season, but were foiled by Scarborough’s last pair.

Hovingham’s James Skelton made a good 67 not out and there was a further half-century for George Mosey (52). With Paul Deverell adding 35, Hovingham were able to total 178-6. Scarborough’s batsmen then struggled to 104-9 as Steve Mosey took 3-39.

Ripon held out for a draw at Pocklington. Andy Inns (53) and Ashley Warner (36) helped Pock to 207-8. Chris Warters took 3-27 for Ripon and then followed with 36 while Barry Kettlewell made 39. Greg Nesbitt took 3-40 for the hosts, but Ripon closed on 161-7.

New Earswick could only post 125-7 at Welton, with Kevin Barker making 31, and the hosts were seven-wicket winners.

Easingwold II beat Huby by one wicket in division four despite the best efforts of Dan Grainger. He made 55 in Huby’s 104 and then claimed 5-8 runs, but Rob Harrison made 27 after taking 3-17 to edge Easingwold to a winning 105-9.

Pickering’s Adie Boyes took 5-8 as his side beat Drax by six wickets.

In division five, Darren Hanley made 90 to help Civil Service gain an advantage draw over Welton.

Dunnington’s Daniel Barrett hit 100 in his side’s 221-6 in a draw with Woodhouse Grange in division six.
