Yorkshire took two wickets in the morning session to strengthen their position in the LV=County Championship against Worcestershire.
By lunch on day three the visitors had reached 168 for six at Scarborough.
It meant they were still 31 runs away from making the Tykes bat again.
Ajmal Shahzad and Rich Pyrah were the bowlers to take the wickets, removing James Cameron (10) and Daryl Mitchell (55) respectively, whilst a dropped catch from Adil Rashid prevented Yorkshire from being even closer to victory.
He put down Gareth Andrew on 15 off the bowling of Shahzad, By the interval the left-hander had reached 35, with Ben Scott on seven.
