TON-UP Tim Bresnan is still on cloud nine at Scarborough.
The 21-year-old Pontefract-born seamer bowled superbly in the blazing heat at North Marine Road on the opening day of the current Championship match and the considerable movement he gained off the pitch earned him the first three Warwickshire wickets.
That was enough for Craig White to give umpire John Steele the signal to produce a Yorkshire first team cap from some pocket or other and it was duly handed over to a surprised Bresnan by the captain.
Bresnan, delighted by his award, was typically modest about his rout of the early Warwickshire order.
"Once the mist cleared the ball started to swing and seam a lot and I just found the right areas," he said.
"Getting chosen to play for England last month in the one-day internationals and now receiving my Yorkshire cap have been a big boost to me and life is really good at the moment."
What Bresnan was unaware of at the time was that when he picked up his second wicket, that of Jonathan Trott, it gave him 100 dismissals in first class cricket.
