Yorkshire wicketkeeper Gerard Brophy has urged the Tykes to convert their good one-day form into the longer version of the game ahead of today's LV County Championship division one clash with Lancashire at Headingley.

The White Rose county are on a high after reaching the quarter-finals of the Friends Provident Trophy.

They now face a trip to Gloucestershire on Wednesday in the last eight - and are just two games away from a Lord's final.

But before that they face a crucial four-day fixture against their Roses rivals, with the chance of moving themselves within striking distance of top spot.

And Brophy believes the hosts have already got the psychological advantage following Wednesday's one-day washout at Headingley.

Lancashire were bowled out for only 89 runs after winning the toss and batting first on a bowler-friendly track. The Red Rose were only saved the embarrassment of defeat by the weather.

If it had been a boxing match, Lancashire would have thrown in the towel long before the elements had their say.

Brophy said: "Winning is a good habit, and they are probably not as confident going into the game as we are. The more games you win, the better - especially against Lancs."

Skipper Darren Gough admitted after Wednesday's North Division game that he was unsure how his side would look with the amount of injured bowlers he has.

Ajmal Shahzad, Matthew Hoggard and Rana Naved-ul-Hasan all miss out along with Steve Patterson, who needs more time to recover from a recent knee injury.

Ben Sanderson comes back into contention, while Oliver Hannon-Dalby should keep his place from last week's draw at Surrey.

Brophy added: "The guys are pretty confident within the changing room. We have had a bit of a struggle with injuries, but the guys who have come in have done their jobs.

"At the beginning of the season, the bowlers were thinking, I'll never get a game here because we have such a good seam attack'.

"All of a sudden they are doing well, and they have to continue to do well."

Brophy, the 32-year-old South African, was in fine form with the gloves in Wednesday's Trophy tie.

He took three catches, including a stunning effort down the leg side to dismiss Francois Du Plessis off the bowling of Gough.

"I have done well with the gloves, but I would like to get some more runs. Hopefully, that will happen this weekend," he said.
