DAVID Willey is one of the most destructive T20 batsmen in the world – as he has shown over the last couple of games. We're very lucky to have him at Yorkshire.
He scored 70 in our win over Birmingham at Headingley on Friday night and I know he was desperate to get over the line and post a hundred then. So for him to do it against Worcestershire on Sunday was great to see.
It was a brilliant knock – 118 off 55 balls and full of fours and sixes. Exciting, entertaining, just what you want to see in this format of the game.
We all know he has that in his locker. He's done it before for Northants and you usually get one of those kind of knocks a season in a campaign.
Fingers crossed, he proves me wrong with that comment and does it again to help us win the competition.
The two home wins on Friday and Sunday were just what we needed, having had that patchy start through no real fault of our own aside from the defeat to Derbyshire at Chesterfield a couple of weeks ago.
We're definitely in a great position now to qualify for the quarter-finals.
We were top of the table ahead of last night's fixtures, courtesy of our healthy net run-rate from Lancashire, and hopefully we can extend our run of wins against Durham at home tonight.
We seem like we have a settled team who all know what they're doing. With the firepower we have, our batting is just ridiculous.
Going back to Dave Willey, he's a breath of fresh air when he's back with us from his commitments with England's limited-overs teams.
He's great with the younger lads – he's a proper professional and does everything right to a tee.
He always gives 100 per cent in everything he does, whether it's with his batting, bowling, in the field or when he's away from the game training in the gym.
He has helped me a lot with moving my own game forwards. We have spent quite a lot of time together, going for coffees and chatting about the game. He's great to chat to about all things cricket.
That's why I was so chuffed for him on Sunday. I know what a great guy he is and how much he deserved that kind of success.
In the second innings of the Worcester game, you have to give credit to Ross Whiteley for hitting his six sixes in an over. It was great hitting and some achievement.
Yes, we may have been on the wrong end of it, but that's what T20 cricket is all about. It's entertaining and what the crowd pays to come and see. The way lads strike the ball these days is just incredible.
I don't actually think it was that bad an over from Karl Carver. He was bowling at a big-hitting left-hander with a short leg-side boundary. Once somebody gets going like that, it can be very hard to stop.
In the dressing room after the game, Tim Bresnan held his hands up and admitted it was the wrong decision to bowl Karl at that time and in that situation. But both are strong characters and will take it on the chin.
Karl will keep his head up and I have absolutely no doubts about his ability to bounce back and perform well the next time he plays.
If he plays against Durham tonight, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he puts in a contribution which helps us get another victory.
I would just like to add my congratulations to the England women's team for their World Cup win. What an amazing achievement.
There were a number of Yorkshire girls involved, with Katherine Brunt and Lauren Winfield playing in the final against India. Jenny Gunn is also a Diamonds player in the Women's Super League, which starts in a couple of weeks.
Let's hope they can make it two out of two this summer and bring that trophy back to Headingley as well.
