PAUL Farbrace has refused to rule out a return to Yorkshire as their new first-team coach.

England's current assistant coach, 49, has been heavily linked with the job Jason Gillespie will vacate at the end of the season.

Director of professional cricket Martyn Moxon said last week that the main priority for the next month will be Yorkshire's bid for a third successive Championship title, but he also admitted he has a few ideas regarding a new coach.

And Farbrace is thought to be right at the top of his wanted list having made a big impression during his two years coaching the White Rose second XI in 2012 and 2013.

"It’s flattering to be linked with a club like Yorkshire, and it’s no secret that the two years I spent there were some of the happiest times I’ve had in cricket and in coaching," Farbrace said over the weekend.

"Headingley is a great place to play cricket, and Yorkshire are a huge club, not just in England but the world in terms of domestic cricket.

"Martyn Moxon was a massive pull for me when I first went there from Kent, and he’s still there.

"It is a very attractive job for whoever ends up getting it, but at this stage it’s no more than nice speculation to be involved with."
