A SECOND successive century from Sessay’s Matthew Till left Heworth in serious trouble at the foot of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League premier division.

Fresh from his 124 against York the previous week, Till hit 102 as his side successfully chased down Heworth’s 191-9.

Yorkshire Academy batsman Jack Leaning was Heworth’s top-scorer with 82, while Ian Lynch hit 36.

Sessay’s Richard Till bowled a marathon spell of 21 overs for his 5-95.

Matthew Till then starred in Sessay’s winning 193-3, with useful support from Nick Thorne (66).

Clifton Alliance had John Gilham (54no) to thank as his team chased down Goole’s 137-8 to win by three wickets.

Ashton Nottingham was Goole’s top-scorer with 27, while team-mate Dave England took 3-76.

The eagerly-awaited top of the table clash between leaders Woodhouse Grange and second-placed Stamford Bridge was washed out.

All the other premier division games were also washed out, although Easingwold did make a start at York, reaching 45-2 before the heavens opened.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge moved up to second place in division one after taking full points in a home win against bottom club Clifton Alliance.

Jamie Hopper, the league’s leading wicket-taker, took 6-43 as the visitors could only muster 105 all out in 21.3 overs.

Andy Parkinson (29) was top-scorer for Clifton in a reduced-overs game.

Bridge only lost one wicket as they coasted to victory, with Mark Fisher (45no) and former Staxton batsman Rob Pinder (49no) to the fore.

Clifton Alliance are now adrift at the bottom of the division as the four clubs immediately above them all took nine points from washouts.

Selby’s Lee Wild was unbeaten on 25 when rain ended their encounter at Acomb with the score at 47-0.
