RELEGATED Ripon handed fellow strugglers Clifton Alliance II 30 points which should see them survive in division one of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League.

Peter Squires was Ripon’s top performer with the bat in making 63 in a total of 119-9. Bowling honours went to John Thornton with 4-22 and Reece Crowe, who took 3-36.

Clifton then went on to win by seven wickets with J Harrison making 40 and Andy Parkinson 25.

Londesborough Park are almost certain to accompany Ripon into the second division when they lost at home to Sheriff Hutton Bridge by nine wickets.

Bridge’s Jordan Grose took 5-30 as Londesborough were reduced to 85-9.

A spirited last-wicket stand between Richard Foster and Darren Moody boosted the total to 122 all out.

Bridge’s Paul Oldfield (46no) and Mike Smith (43no) wrapped up a win in the 32nd over.

The top three sides all gained advantage draws to maintain the status quo at the summit.

Leaders York made an impressive 186-7 in a game that was reduced to 30 overs at Folkton & Flixton.

There were half-centuries for skipper Dave Simpson, who hoisted his aggregate to 916 when he made 77, and Simon Lambert, who hit 60.

For the home team, Nick Zakrzewski took 4-58 and Ben Elvidge 3-22.

Matt Hodsdon then took 4-59 to peg the reply to 132-7.

At Elmpark Way, Jack Leaning led Heworth’s run-scoring against Bridlington with 76.

Rich Walton (35) and Guy Wilkinson (30) also made runs in a total of 201-9.

Richard Lount then made 40, but Wilkinson continued his good work with 3-28 and spinner Mark Bell grabbed 3-36 to reduce Brid to 134-8 at the close.
