SHERIFF Hutton Bridge II maintained their excellent start to the season with a 10-wicket victory over New Earswick in Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League Galtres division two.

Winning the toss, Bridge reduced the home side to 55 all out with Nadeem Shefta returning 7-29.

It took just seven overs for Bridge to beat the required target (Conner Campbell 39 not out).

Pannal continued their excellent start at Duncombe Park. The home team were invited to bat first and made 195-8 from their full allotment of overs (Alex Medd 40, Peter Kent 39, D Medd 35) leading the fight against Rob Ellis’ 4-42 and Chris Henry’s 3-29.

Captain Rob Ellis added to bowling figures of 4-42 with 58 in reply but Rob Smith’s undefeated 106 was the stand-out performance as he led Pannal to an eight-wicket win.

Bilton-in-Ainsty recorded back-to-back wins when they visited Thorp Arch & Boston Spa.

Batting first, Bilton racked up 250-7 (Tim Lambert 89, Graham Hutchison 59, and Robert Hildreth 48). Nitikant Kasana was the pick of the TABS attack with 3-55.

Lambert and Hildreth were also instrumental with the ball, with 4-28 and 3-43 respectively, and reduced TABS to 136 all out to inflict their first defeat of the season.

Hovingham recorded their first victory of the campaign when winning by three wickets at home to Tadcaster Magnets.

Opting to bat first, Tadcaster struggled against the efforts of Steve Mosey (4-14) and Rich Bowling (5-22) and were grateful for the efforts of Richard Grogan (27) in reaching 83 all out in the 40th over.

In reply, Hovingham found the low total tough going with Oliver Pickard’s 3-23 causing consternation. However Stuart Prest’s 37 ensured his home team got over the line.

Osbaldwick scored 237-7 at Sessay II with Matt Dunne (57), and brothers Matt and James Hattee (89 and 29) providing the majority of the runs.

Matthew Wass hit 87 and James Skelton 37 in reply however captain Matt Hattee’s spell of 5-25 in tandem with Ben Richardson’s 3-56 turned the game and Sessay finished 20 runs short.

Stillington made 168-9 (Oliver Everard 67) and returned from Thirsk with a winning draw. In response, Karl Simpson (3-30) and S Kirkham (4-33) reduced the Thirsk reply to 128-9 with only James Trueman (58*) offering any resistance.

In division three, Knaresborough II made it 4 wins from 4 as they went past visiting Huby’s 159 all out (Dan Grainger 68, Tom Piercy 38) with Dan Howard returning figures of 5-25. The home team lost just 5 wickets with runs coming from John Dodman (39) and Henry Perham (33).

Woodhouse Grange II ended Wetherby's (166-8) 100 per cent record with a two wicket victory.

Easingwold II amassed 308-5 against Heworth III with Dan Copeland hitting 127.

Heworth (86 all out) had no answer to the bowling of Tom Wilson whose 4-27 completed the rout.

Rowntrees & Huntington secured their third win of the season at Osbaldwick II.

Tom Shaw (50) and Steve Beales (40) helped R&H to 144-9 but schoolboy bowler Callum Walton, aged only 15, impressed with figures of 4-24 for Osbaldwick.

Despite contributions from Mick Thompson (35) and Louis Morton (25), the home team were bowled out 15 runs short of the target.

York IV recorded their first win of the season at home to New Earswick II.

The visitors made 166-9 (Dave Scott 45) and Tom Backhouse (4-35) was the pick of the York bowlers.

York passed their target in the 31st over for the loss of six wickets.

Heslington II and Thorp Arch & Boston Spa II lead the way in Galtres division 4 after both continued their winning starts to the season.

Heslington totalled 245-4 against Hovingham II with Richard Gibbon (105no). In reply, Hovingham were never in the hunt thanks to Mark Bywater’s 4-12 and were bowled out for 126.

TABS II chased down a total of 167-7 at Huby II for the loss of three wickets.

Duncombe Park II recorded their first victory of the season at Dringhouses II.

Batting first, the visitors made 162 all out (J Casey 57). Despite knocks from Lewis Chipchase (53) and Murray Coyle (44), Dringhouses could not compete with fine spells of bowling from Dave Dunn (6-45) and Ethan Crusher (3-21) as the visitors completed a 39 run win

Copmanthorpe II (200-7) took the best of the draw when they visited Stillington II.

Matthew Oakes hit 72 and Matthew Limbert 49 with Ben Wood’s 3-23 the best home bowler.

In reply, Stillington managed 105-6 with Paul Wynn grabbing 3-20 on the way to a share of the points.
