STEVE BURDETT has stepped down as Woodhouse Grange Cricket Club captain after a decade of success.

The first team stalwart led his team to six Hunters York & District Senior League championships, along with a host of other trophies, and was one of the key members of the side that won back-to-back Davidstow Village Cup titles at Lord's.

A well attended annual general meeting at the Sutton-on-Derwent-based club elected opening batsman Andrew Bilton as the new skipper, with his younger brother Chris Bilton to serve as vice-captain.

The gathering looked back on a year where the club finished runners-up in the premier division and won promotion to the new ECB Yorkshire North League and claimed the Village Cup as well as the President's Trophy.

President Richard Hobson will be replaced by his son Nick next season after taking the new title of life president.

Condolences were expressed after Fred Mason passed away in September. The club hopes to erect a plaque in his memory on the new second pitch facility, which is set to open before the start of the new campaign.
